    Hope for the future

On Saturday, Sept. 22, during Radcliff Days, the Optimist Club of Radcliff conducted a pancake breakfast and entered a float in the parade.

Previously, the club had sponsored a Junior Optimist Club as part of the Optimist International JOOI program. These junior members were from the Hardin County Schools Junior Leadership Corps of North Middle School and James T. Alton School, with instructors Neal Gibbs, Kenneth Caldwell and support specialist Rudy Garcia.

    Benefits are earned

There have been many references to “entitlements” in a variety of media sources over the past week. The various discussions brought to mind information I read years ago in my National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) magazine.

The article explained that the word “entitlements” is another way of describing, for  active and retired federal employees, earned benefits. They are specified in law and we have legal rights to them. We earned them by devoting many years to our federal careers.

    Don’t be fooled again

I am so discouraged by these letters to the editor promoting President Obama. Do these people really in good faith say he’s been a good president? Are they just voting Democrat, no matter who’s running? We have all this unrest in the Middle East and they want to blame it on a movie for fear that if they say it’s a terrorist attack, it would put a damper on his re-election.

    We’re being duped, my friends.

    It’s about the economy

In recent letters to the editor, writers have provided incomplete information concerning Obamacare and the Romney plan for Medicare.

    Be done with it

Not only should we not allow President Barack Obama to finish the job, we need to remove this man from office as soon as possible.

The “Great Obama Experiment” has been an unmitigated disaster from the very beginning.

Our national debt has reached amounts that were previously unknown, our taxes have and will continue to be increased, our foreign policy (or lack of) is at best a joke.

    Obama’s advisors

My missive back in March suggested Attorney General Holder should step down from office. Since that time, Mr. John Bryson the secretary of commerce, had multiple auto hit and runs the same day and turned in his resignation suggesting he has a medical condition. Yep, I guess the physical prior to beginning service was a bummer.

    This much I know

I know: I want to go forward and not backward.

I know:  Health care is a great thing and  birth control and mammogram coverage should be afforded to all women

I know: The wealthy 1 percent should want to pay their fair share

I know:  Women deserve to make decisions regarding their bodies

I know: My vote will be going to re-elect President Barack Obama
