    “PAWS Forever” book release a Success

    The actions of many animal lovers is starting to make a difference in Hardin County. On Sunday, more than 100 people and dogs gathered for the book release of “PAWS Forever.” The book is a photographic collection of our community dogs, many of which have been adopted from the Hardin County Animal Shelter.

    Pay attention, retirees

    The governor appointed a Kentucky tax reform panel earlier this year, which is considering a change that taxes retirees’ pensions.

    Lt. Gov. Abramson is chairman of the Blue Ribbon Panel on Tax Reform. On. Nov. 9 he said the panel could recommend tweaking the tax code that exempts taxes on pensions of $41,100 or less. Abramson said panel members are looking at decreasing the pension limit to just $15,000.

    I have noticed we have a lot fewer bell ringers out this year. Myself, I ring the bell for the Salvation Army on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays each week, it gives me a good feeling to know I am able to give some relief to some of the less fortunate folks here in the area.

    It’s going to take all of us
    On Nov. 15, Kenneth L. Randall wrote a letter to the editor telling President Barack Obama’s supporters not to expect “white flags” from conservatives. Well, I hope not. This is not the time to give up.
    I have never heard of Mr. Randall, but I certainly wouldnot want him to crawl into a hole. It is going to take all of us, liberal and conservative alike, to solve the nation’s complicated problems.
