Ultimately, someone always must pay
We have all heard the saying “there is no free lunch.” If you stop and think about it, you realize somebody always has to pay for things whether lunch or whatever.
The real question for us in America is do you want to pay for everything for everybody else? I think not.
Why am I writing this letter to the editor? Hopefully to make folks think about what our government should and should not be doing.
Government does nothing without money which comes from taxing its citizens. When government taxes businesses, they pass it on to us, their customers, i.e., the taxpayers.
When we elect officials to any office at any level we expect them to act responsibly and in the best interest of those they represent. Whether executives or legislators, we hope they will not make irrational or bad decisions because such things hurt us all in America.
I remember well being a proud John F. Kennedy Democrat when his mantra was “ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country.”
The Democratic Party of JFK is now long gone and now I am a proud Republican thanks to Bill Clinton and the decline of the Democratic Party into the depths of the welfare state and liberal socialism mentality.
Recently the score of Democratic presidential candidates announced they favored free health care for all illegal immigrants. The president and our Congress are supposed to represent the actual legal citizens of this country and are supposed to support the U.S. Constitution and the laws of the land. However, many do not. 8 US Code 1324 states it a federal felony to knowingly give aid and comfort to illegal aliens. Why is the law not enforced? It should not be ignored.
The Democratic Party and all its presidential candidates have lost their way in more ways than one. Socialism does not work. We cannot be all things to all people.
I know many registered Democrats who are fine people. Some of them are misguided and the rest vote Republican. Build the wall and vote Republican.
