Trump’s not root of divisive nation

Recently there was a letter to the editor complaining that our president was “tearing the country up.” The person apparently has a short memory and spoke in generalizations. I’ll refresh his memory and be specific concerning the Obama administration.

Barack Obama started with his infamous Apology Tour embarrassing Americans by bowing to Saudi kings and apologizing to the world for America’s greatness. In fact, he told the French, “America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive” toward Europe. This was an absolute insult to the thousands of brave American servicemen and women whose graves are all over Europe fighting in World Wars I and II.

Next, let’s go to the IRS targeting conservative political groups. Lois Lerner, head of the Exempt Organization Division, directed by unknown persons, saw to it that conservative organizations seeking tax-exempt status were delayed. She never could be charged because when she went to testify before Congress her lawyers knew had her plead the 5th Amendment to avoid prosecution.

The Fast and Furious program under Attorney General Eric Holder sold guns to Mexican drug cartels by using the cover that they were tracking the guns to catch cartel members. They sold more than 2,000 guns but only received 700 back. Many congressional leaders felt it was an effort by Holder, directed by Obama, to discredit the American firearms industry. Obama in 2013 had said “Most of the guns used to commit violence here in Mexico comes from the United States.”

It would have gone unnoticed but Border Agent Brian Terry was killed by one of those guns. Holder, claiming no knowledge of the program, refused to testify in Congress and was the first Cabinet member in the history of the U.S. to be charged with contempt of Congress. Obama, hiding the corruption, claimed executive privilege to avoid releasing investigative documents.

There’s more, including the shootings in Dallas, Baton Rouge, San Bernardino and Orlando but I think you see my point.

President Trump didn’t create the division in America. He exposed it.

Michael, I've already looked it up. You didn't answer my question. Where did you get your info? BTW, tell me what Jimmy Carter accomplished besides The Great Recession I and the Iran hostage crisis. You probably don't t remember the first Great Recession. Real unemployment 20%, an average mortgage loan for a house 10-15% interest. It took one of our greatest presidents, Ronald Reagan to get us out of that mess. Oh, and let's don't forget his incompetence with the Iran Hostage crisis. 444 days they were held hostage. What does Carter do? Allows our military to execute a disastrous rescue. If I'm not mistaken, we lose a helicopter an airplane and numerous fatalities. The fact of the matter is, Carter couldn't manage a Kool-Aid stand.

Michael93v4

What is wrong with you? I looked up my information on the internet from non-partisan sites. Form scholars and not left wing radical sites and not from right wing radical sites. One group includes over 170 American History scholars. And I'm 56 and remember the energy crisis and recession. Events that were started under Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford administrations. Jimmy Carter responded to the energy crisis by creating the Department of Energy. He also created the Department of Education. President Jimmy Carter has been declared a midlevel president. This means he generally lands in the middle of President listed from the best to worse. This is all public information. According to who is the best President, based on the stock market performance, Calvin Coolidge 1923-1929 is number one with 26.1% per year gain. His Presidency saw a 266% gain in the Dow. President Bill Clinton 1993-2001 saw a 15.2% a year gain or a gain over eight years of 210%. The third is President Barack Obama 2009-2017 saw a 13.8% per year gain and after eight years 181% gain. The eighth is President Ronald Reagan 1981-1989 with 10.2% per year gain. His first four years were plagued with an early recession. He had to raise taxes 11 times to make up for his first tax cut. At the end of his second term, his tax cut was cut in half. His deregulation and trickle down failed theory would lead to the downfall of George HW Bush. President Ronald Reagan led to the Savings and Loan collapse. President Donald Trump is ninth through January 15, 2019, 10.2% per year. President Jimmy Carter 1977- 1981 is 13th with 6.9% per year growth in the stock market. President Richard Nixon 1969-1974 is twentieth with a -3.9% growth per year. Number 22 is President George W. Bush 2001-2009 saw a -5.6% per year growth. This covers 130 years of the stock market. So I do not agree with your assessment about President Jimmy Carter and President Ronald Reagan. President Jimmy Carter did not create the Iran Hostage crisis. President Richard Nixon and President Ford so focused on Vietnam failed to counter the Shaw of Iran's evil government. The Iran Hostage crisis which lasted 444 days because of President Ronald Reagan's illegal Iran-Contra treasonous activities. Many in his administration were charged and found guilty and then Bush senior pardoned many. Your praise of President Ronald Reagan is misplaced. Based on his record. President Jimmy Carters record is actually better than your tabloid blame. Try looking things up and stop posting right wing propaganda sites as legitimate sites.

You never cease to amaze me, Michael. Your statements are beyond blatant falsehoods. What "proven lies" are you talking about? Everything that I stated in my post were fact. What wasn't? Be specific. Also, where did you get the statement that Obama's been the best president since so and so? In other words, what left wing radical pro-Marxist propaganda rag did you get that from?

Michael93v4

"Left-wing radical pro-Marxist propaganda rag" You are so eat up. Look it up. The only ones not saying that are people like you. You lied by declaring Jimmy Carter the worst and that President Barack Obama passed him. That is a lie. Republican Richard Nixon is the worst. Ronald Reagan second and with just two years in Donald Trump. This is based on economics, convictions of cabinet members and firings and resignations. Donald Trump is adding nearly a trillion dollars to the National Debt monthly. Unemployment is low but it was trending that way under President Barack Obama. Donald Trump's tax cut last year did not produce the positive impact he promised. The GAO released their report this week. Where did you find President Barack Obama and President Jimmy Carter was worse than Donald Trump? Let me be like you. What Conservative Republican Evangelical White Nationalist Cult of Trump rag you get your info. I just looked up sites that had an opinion. Many are research sites by people who have been ranking Presidents and their administrations since Richard Nixon. I am sure your sites will just be institutions only three years old.

Linda,
You still did not answer whether you agree with John Nolte's article in the link you posted--

1) Do you think Robert Mueller and Rod Rosenstein are "dirty cops" ?

2) Do you think the New York Times and Washington Post are the "fake news media" ?.....

Impressive posts, Michael. Would you provide us your sources for this information and please don't tell me to Google it. Another thing, nobody hated on Obama like you and the radical left hates on Trump. What we hated were Obama's policies and actions. His Obamacare quadrupled or more my health insurance premiums after lying to us that if we liked our health insurance that we can keep it. I lost mine. He could call a homosexual NBA basketball player and congratulate him for coming out while he couldn't call the next of kin of the Benghazi massacre who died due to his and Crooked Hillary's incompetence. BTW, the Fake News Network's Jim Acosta accuses President Trump of "dog whistles" to white supremacists, whatever that is, I wonder what kind of dog whistles Obama used when members of the domestic terror organization, Black Lives Matter, killed 5 police officers in Dallas, Texas and wounded 9 more. What kind of dog whistle did Barack use when another member of the same domestic terror organization killed 3 police officers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and wounded several more. What kind of dog whistles did Barack use when Muslim terrorists killed 20 plus in San Bernardino, California and 50 plus in Orlando, Florida. No, no one hated on Obama like you left wing radicals hate on President Trump. We just disliked his policies and actions. Of course, being the most unqualified candidate for president in the history of the U.S., what were we to expect. The good news is though, Jimmy Carter can now go to his grave knowing that he will no longer be known as the worst president in U.S. history. Obama blew by him like a rocket sled on rails.

Michael93v4

Hating on President Barack Obama for no apparent reason. Same game as usual. You repeat proven lies blame left wing liberals. Sorry , but people know why they do not like President Trump. Not surprising you did not mention the shooting during President Trump's reign of political terror. How many times can you show that President Obama Name called political opponents. And so you can sleep at night. The people who decide whether a president is good and bad and how they rank in history. Since Richard Nixon's Presidency, President Barack Obama is the best President. President Donald Trump is after just two years is the worst President.

And this is the first two years of Donald Trump's Presidency. Why do you not find Donald Trump wrong about any issues? Why do you only hate on Democrats? And even those attacks are just propaganda.

Wow, another cherry picking propaganda comment from our resident Conservative Republican. When in doubt just blame Obama. Typical Conservative Republican propaganda response to current events. We witnessed eight years of President Barack Obama bashing from Conservatives. They never liked or respected anything about him. Eight years of political and personal abuse by Conservatives. Mitch McConnel vowed to never ever work with President Barack Obama. The entire Conservative Republican party took that comment as a declaration of war against Democrats. During those eight years, Conservative Republicans did nothing but draw a check while in office. They obstructed Democrats at every turn. Conservative propaganda against Democrats took to new political lows. FOX news became known for fake news long before Donald Trump. Now that they and Donald Trump has most definitely divided this Nation you want to blame Barack Obama?
President Donald Trump has embarrassed the United States of America to the entire world. His friends that he admires is Russia's President Putin, North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un, Saudia Arabia leader Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Israels Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. How can an American President consider any of these people admirable? The majority of the world hates Donald Trump and no longer respects America. This was all Donald Trump and not Barack Obama.
How many Cabinet members in President Barack Obama's administration were charged or convicted of a crime or ethics violation? None.
