Farmers should be troubled by policies

Anyone who is a farmer, knows a farmer or supports farming never should consider voting for Matt Bevin, because he has made it clear, most recently at Fancy Farm picnic, he is Donald Trump’s man and supports everything the president has done in office.

What President Trump has done for the farmer is to start a trade war with China he now says he will escalate in September with even more tariffs on Chinese imports. Quite logically, China has responded with tariffs of its own on American goods.

The $16 billion subsidy authorized to offset the effect of the tariffs is a fair and terrifying indicator of what kind of damage the tariffs are doing to agricultural industry. Soybean sales to China are off 80 percent. China now is buying its soybeans from Brazil and Argentina and, according to Bloomberg News, has asked state-owned companies to suspend all U.S. agricultural imports.

Assuming the president and Congress are not planning on allocating billions of dollars in perpetuity, the problems farmers are facing today will be compounded in the future.

And problems abound.

Kentucky Soybean Association estimates the tariffs cost Kentucky farmers $200 million in 2018. This is not accounting for the losses of corn farmers and hog producers.

By way of comparison, the Center for Agriculture and Rural Development at Iowa State University estimated the loss to all Iowa farmers and related agricultural businesses to be between $1 and $2 billion.

To add insult to injury, the 25 percent tariff on agricultural equipment and raw material, such as steel and aluminum, Trump levied, has resulted in higher prices on equipment and parts farmers must have to grow their crops. In summary, the money they can make is down, while the price of doing business is up and going higher. Farmers truly are “in the cross hairs of the trade war.” And anyone who would support doing this to our farmers does not deserve our vote.

Andy Beshear knows about farming and cares about farmers. When he is governor, the farmers and all of the Commonwealth will have a friend and ally in Frankfort.

It’s time for America to wake up to reality

I recently read two items which made me want to shout, “Wake Up, America.”

One was a 2003 Washington Times commentary by Dennis Prager: “Three global ideologies compete for humanity’s future.” Here are two segments.

“There are now three ideologies competing to shape the future of mankind. They are militant Islam, Western European secularism and socialism and American Judeo-Christianity and capitalism. The first is being spread both peacefully and violently, the second is being spread peacefully and the third is not being spread.”

“The American way can only prevail if Americans believe in it. But with America’s universities, unions, professional associations, major news media and one of its two major parties ideologically aligned with Europe, and with big business undermining Judeo-Christian values, the battle within America itself for America’s unique values is far from won.”

Written more than 16 years ago, it is very much the case today.

The second was a book, “MiG Pilot” by John Barron, which tells of a Soviet pilot who intentionally flew the USSR’s top secret jet, the MiG 25, to Japan on Sept. 6, 1975, so the U.S. would have access to secrets the Soviets had at the time. It was a story of his struggle and swallowing of his pride to become “a good Communist” in order to become a pilot. Eventually, he decided freedom was what he needed more than anything.

A wonderful book, it impressed upon me again how great America is.

We have a great country but our elected officials are not doing their jobs because of politics.

I am disturbed by the “Communist/Socialist Squad” in Congress who obviously hate our capitalist system and I am deeply upset by a lack of cooperation to do what is best regarding our health and safety.

Some folks will hate President Donald Trump forever. I do not. He is flawed in some ways but he has been great for America overall. I encourage all Americans to be informed voters and support those who love America and will support her in every respect.

The Democratic candidates for preisdent remind me of those in the famous old English insane asylum of Bedlam.

Wake up, America, and God bless America.

I've looked the facts up and they're that, facts. Nobody has twisted anything. You're right when you say that the plant in Pennsylvania that you say Obama started was started in 2012. My question is why didn't it get completed before he left office in 2017? Is it because of his total incompetence? If he were president they'd still be working on it. Your comment that the tax cuts that President Trump initiated were ineffective is a flat out lie. But then again, I wouldn't expect anything else from you with your TDS.

It was not finished because he did not build the factory. It is the business owners. How is it possible you do not know that. President Donald Trump has not built a single factory in America. None. Neither has Obama, Bush/Cheney, Clinton, Bush Sr. nor Ronald Reagan. No President does. How do you not understand that?

As far as the tax cut being ineffective that is not my opinion but that of President Donald Trump's economic team. Also by the majority of the economist who spends their lives studying the economy. But wait you have the word of your cult leader who says everyone is wrong but him. That is why he fires the professionals he hires. Now he wants to fire the Fed chair and his chief economic adviser, the Ag secretary, and his foreign trade advisor because what Trump has said has not materialized. So you like to through the word incompetence when talking the Obama administration. I have challenged you to provide prove but you just disappear. Also if you looked up those points you copied and pasted then you would know they are not facts. And you did twist Trump's visit to that plant as a win for Trump. You also chose not to mention that the employees were forced to attend or lose pay and they were not allowed to voice their opinion of Trump through their freedom of speech.

You have proven time and again that you are a Trump cultist. Saying I have TDS is your way of covering your cult-like believe system. Why will you not respond to my challenge to debate in public forum? As a cultist, you should praise your lord and master in public with pictures and interviews.

I know that you're delusional but you surprise even me with some of your inane, uneducated comments. Where do you dream this stuff up? Read the above attachment. Trump created 6 times more manufacturing jobs in his first 2 years in office than Hussein did in his last 2 years. Not twice as many or 3 times as many but 6 times as many. And please pray tell me who on Trump's economic team made the comment that his tax cuts were ineffective and prove it. You can't. You've got nothing. You're just like your propaganda fake news networks, FNN, MSLSD and others. Nobody has disappeared anywhere except the facts disappear whenever you write one of your rambling, nonsensical, nonfactual BS diatribes that brainwashed Democrats like you write.

Trump Says Jews Disloyal to Israel If They Vote for Democrats. Trump also retweeted about what an ex-jew conspiracy writer wrote about President Donald Trump being "King of the Jews" and the second coming. Yea, cultist will eat this up. LOL what a Presidential joke.

• Even the Obama-appointed Fed Chair Janet Yellen says a recession is not likely.

• Democrats (and Bill Maher) are dangerously rooting for a recession solely to stop President Trump.

• Policies 2020 Democrats are pushing would stifle the economy.

• President Trump’s policies have put the American economy into high gear.

• Since President Trump was elected over 6 million jobs have been created.

• Over 500,000 manufacturing jobs have been created since the president was elected.

• More than one million jobs have been created in 2019 alone.

• The GDP for the first quarter of 2019 was 3.1%.

• Highlights of July’s jobs report:

o The U.S. added 164,000 jobs in July.

o 16,000 new manufacturing jobs were added.

o The unemployment rate held at a near generational low – 3.7%.

o Unemployment among African American, Latino Americans, Asian Americans, and women remains at near-record lows.

o 370,000 people reentered the labor market in July.

o Wage growth has now topped 3% for an entire year.

• The Dow Jones Industrial Average hit record highs more than 80 times under President Trump, including closing higher than 26,000 points for the first time in its history.

• Under President Trump’s leadership, Congress passed historic tax cuts and relief for hard-working Americans. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is the first major tax reform signed in 30 years.

o As a result of the historic tax cuts, nearly 9,000 Opportunity Zones were created in all 50 states, DC, and 5 territories. Opportunity Zones will spur $100 billion in private capital investment and impact nearly 35 million Americans.

o The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act increased the Child Tax Credit by 100% keeping more money in the pockets of hardworking mothers.

• Economic confidence rebounded to record highs under President Trump because his pro-growth policies have and continue to put American workers and businesses first.

• President Trump has rolled back unnecessary job-killing regulations at a record clip which has saved billions and unleashed massive economic growth.

………..just the facts, Mam.

Again you post propaganda as facts. Bush/Cheney damaged the economy and I bet you talked the same Propaganda. All indicators is that the TAX CUT under Trump failed. His tariff war turned into a hidden tax on Americans. His bailout of the American steel and Aluminum industry has run its course and they are laying off workers. Most of the manufacturing gains you and Trump bragged about were planned under the Obama Administration. Trump's Pennsylvania propaganda rally in a new manufacturing plant was actually started under the Obama administration but Trump took credit and had the employees show up or they could lose pay. Those are facts child of cult Trump. Try looking up each point you copied and pasted. You will find each of your points a twisted fake fact.

Again you make light of President Donald Trump's flaws. President Donald Trump is a liar! Period. That is a major character flaw and a moral flaw for a President of the United States. His entire life has been one lie after another. He has multiple investigations about his lies and deceptions. And yet you do not care. Five major bankruptcies and you still speak highly about President Donald Trump's economic plans. He promised to eliminate the deficit in eight years. He bragged about how more intelligent he was then all the economist. What he has accomplished is add $4 trillion to the deficit in 2 1/2 years and projections are for continued deficits in the amount of $2.5 trillion per year. President Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell have agreed to put off health care reform (which Trump said was easy and would tackle on day one) and infrastructure investment until 2021. What happened? All these lies and you still claim President Donald Trump is doing a great job. Please prove it. It is just so sad to see people claim President Donald Trump is doing a great job when he is not. This Nation has never been more divided along political ideologies then today. But since you as a cult follower of Trump blame the Democrats, the free press, our educational system and everyone else but Trump for his failures you will always be wrong. Lying is a sin and President Donald Trump lies nearly every day.
