Note to Indiana
My wife and I really enjoy visiting Indiana’s small cities and towns up and down the Ohio River. They are very enjoyable.
However, it appears that Indiana’s governor and state legislature are contemplating a statewide smoking ban. If indeed it enacts such a law, we will shift our entertainment dollars elsewhere.
Our state, Kentucky, has for the most part locked us out of any entertainment and recreation venues in our largest cities.

In these recessionary times, it's common for private companies of all sizes to take a hard look at their operations. Business units that are less than effective or dealing with declining volume sometimes are closed.
The U.S. Postal Service would like to do the same thing. Considering the agency lost $8.5 billion last year — $23 million per day — something needs to be done. No one wants less service or to lose the convenience of a community post office, but it's necessary to look at more drastic tactics.

Obesity responsibility our own
My wife and I read a letter submitted in the Sunday edition that lauded Walmart’s efforts to address our nation’s obesity epidemic by cutting prices on produce and “urging” suppliers to cut back on sodium, trans fat and sugar in their products. The letter states that to truly fight obesity, Walmart should encourage consumers to “ditch unhealthy processed meat.”
