They got the opportunity they’ve been waiting for against Green County ace Brennen Milby, but they may have been a little too excited.

PREP TRACK: North Hardin sweeps...

LOUISVILLE— It was the sweetest victory lap Coach James Webb has experienced. And one of the coldest after he was drenched with a cooler of water.

But it was worth it after watching North Hardin become the first school to sweep the Class 3-A state meet in 31 years. Lexington Bryan Station was the last school to do it in 1982.

Patton Museum staff brings...

Every staff member of the Gen. George Patton Museum of Leadership is working to revamp the space where tanks and armor used to reside. Curator Nathan Jones said the team is diverse, representing different functions of the museum world.

Jones often is mistaken for the museum’s director, the administrative leader of the staff who supervises daily operations. He defers those questions because his job title is more academic in nature.

During impromptu remarks at a breakfast gathering Thursday, two local legislators pledged to ensure northern Hardin County gets a fair shake when the General Assembly redraws its boundaries.

Ahmad Zeyad Aburob (1990). Menacing; disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Serve four days in jail. Court costs waived.

Danita Rose Smallwood (1969). Disorderly conduct. Thirty days in jail probated for two years on conditions in the order. Total $155.

PREP SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Central...

A walkoff squeeze play by a prolific power hitter kept the ninth-ranked Central Hardin Lady Bruins from being upset Monday night by Marion County.

Senior Baylee Sullivan doubled to leadoff of the bottom of the seventh and took third on a fielder’s choice on a ball hit by senior Jackie Holbert before scoring on a bunt by Jordan Lasley as Central Hardin earned a 2-1 win over reigning 5th Region Tournament runner-up Lady Knights (19-9).

Survivors, loved ones find hope...

After several years of remission, Glendale resident Ann Rogers’ breast cancer returned last year.

This time, it’s terminal, she said, and though it would be easy to stay in bed, she sat in a lawn chair Friday night in Central Hardin High School’s gym with a survivor medal and purple Relay for Life shirt.

“It just gives you an idea you’re not the only one going through it,” Rogers said about Relay.

E'town to present budget in...

Elizabethtown Mayor Tim Walker said the public will get a detailed look at the 2013-14 fiscal year budget early next month.

Walker plans to present the budget and deliver a message during Elizabethtown City Council’s June 3 meeting.

He declined to release specifics on the budget Monday afternoon because details of the spending plan are being finalized. Council members met multiple times last week at City Hall to review and fine tune the budget and planned to wrap up discussions Monday night.
