Siblings welcome Michelle...

Shayne Aaron Hoffie and Caleb Joseph Hoffie announce the birth of a sister, Michelle Elizabeth Hoffie, on April 13, 2013. She weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces and was 19 inches long.

Parents are Jerome and Carla Michelle Hoffie.

Maternal grandparents are Joe and Glenda Dohn. Paternal grandparents are Bob and Patty Hoffie.

Maternal great-grandparents are Dixie Pearman and the late John “J.T.” Peraman and Fred and Nan Dohn. Paternal great-grandparents are Ken and Betty Hoffie and the late Elaine Linstead Hoffie and the late Gervis and Cora Keel.

Garden Club members participate...

Ann Kowalkoski of the Garden Club of Elizabethtown congratulates Bridgette Durham on the occasion of the dedication of her new home. The Hardin County Habitat for Humanity held the Home Dedication Ceremony for the Durham Family Home on May 5 and the Garden Club of Elizabethtown donated two rosebushes to beautify the new residence.

   The April rain seems to have come a month late. I guess it is still good for the gardens. It makes it very muddy for planting.

Like a runaway locomotive, the Central Hardin softball team has been rolling right along on the tracks this season.

The ninth-ranked Lady Bruins carry a 13-0 record against 5th Region teams entering this week’s 17th District Tournament at Elizabethtown. The Lady Bruins would run their winning streak to 37 over district teams if they were to win their fourth straight district tournament title at 7 Wednesday night.

How does a team derail the Lady Bruin Express? At least two area coaches said it wouldn’t be easy.

The Central Hardin Bruins are in a situation they've seen several times the last few years. The Bruins go into the postseason with a huge target on their backs.

The Bruins went undefeated in the 17th District regular season for a third consecutive year. They have won 35 consecutive games against district teams with their last loss coming to Elizabethtown on April 20, 2010.

Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown...

The General Federation of Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown met May 3 at the Brown-Pusey House in Elizabethtown. Betty Sue French, president, called the meeting to order. A short business meeting was held.

A moment of silent prayer was held for Claudia Thurman, a Woman’s Club member who recently succumbed to cancer.

Kathy DeVeau presented the devotional per DVD in her absence.
