Stitchers Quilt Guild members...

The Stitchers Quilt Guild held a showcase of mini quilts during the April meeting. Members brought miniature quilts they made for show and tell. The Stitchers also have a mini group that meets every other month and works on a different miniature pattern each time.

Mini quilts will be on display at the annual Heart of Kentucky Quilt Show on Sept. 20 and 21 at Pritchard Community Center.

Mu Chapter attends Alpha Gamma...

Lexington Hilton Suites was the setting of Alpha Gamma State’s 2013 convention April 5 through 7. The mission and vision statement of the organization remains the same as when the 13 founders met at the Brown Hotel in Louisville on March 24, 1937: The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education.

During National Library Week, April 15 through 20, the Radcliff Woman’s Club shared a few words with the Hardin County Public Library, North Branch in Radcliff. Words like “good job,” “keep up the excellent work” and “we support you” were conveyed through the contribution of three books to the library.

Mack named Warrior of the Week

MACK. Air Force Technical Sgt. Antonio A. Mack has been named Warrior of the Week.

Mack is a console operations noncommissioned officer-in-charge assigned to the 96th Test Wing/Command Post at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.

The technical sergeant has served in the military for 15 years.

He is the son of Tony A.J. Mack of Columbia, S.C.

Mack graduated in 1996 from Fort Knox High School.

NARFE members attend convention

Several Elizabethtown NARFE Chapter No. 1050 delegates attended the Kentucky NARFE Federation Convention April 9 through 11 in Bowling Green. The theme was to “Live Healthy in Retirement,” and personal trainers were on hand to encourage delegates to keep moving to prevent complications from aging and being inactive.

Michael and Bonnie Wheeler of Elizabethtown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Melissa Marie Wheeler, to James Todd Smith, son of Barry and Renee Smith of Columbia.

The bride-to-be is a 2013 graduate of Lindsey Wilson College.

The prospective groom also is a 2013 graduate of Lindsey Wilson College.

The wedding is at 4:30 p.m. June 1, 2013, at the Brown-Pusey House in Elizabethtown

I hope all of the moms out there had a great Mother’s Day. I sure did. I got to spend it with my mom and my two sisters. With our busy lives, it is tough to get us all together, but we did it. My mom really enjoyed it as well.
