Pearman pushes for events...

With Radcliff promoting Summer Blast in late June, Councilman Jacob Pearman pushed City Council to seriously consider the creation of an events coordinator position.

Pearman said he believes the city's development of new festivals and events has brought its residents closer together and an employee dedicated to the cultivation of local entertainment could push Radcliff to a higher echelon.

"I think we could just do more," he said.

Museum reopening draws...

Citing, among other things, the military’s strong connection to Kentucky, Gov. Steve Beshear welcomed the rededication of the General George Patton Museum of Leadership during a ceremony Friday morning on post.

“Fort Knox is a fitting home for the George Patton Museum of Leadership,” Beshear said, noting the post is steeped in history.

“He was conscientious then like he was today,” Games said of Walker, who died suddenly Friday morning.

Games moved on to become president of the Elizabethtown-Hardin County Industrial Foundation while Walker served as city councilman and mayor of Elizabethtown. Upon Walker’s victory in the 2010 mayoral race, the two men again worked together to bring jobs to Elizabethtown, traveling to India to court industry.

The employment contract for Jon Ballard reveals typical benefits for the position and a slightly less-than-average salary, compared to others in the state.

Ballard, the next superintendent of Elizabethtown Independent Schools, entered into a four-year contract with the EIS board when he was hired last month in the position.

His contract begins July 1 and will run through the end of June 2017. Ballard will receive $115,000 as his base salary and will receive the same raises based on percentage of income that other certified staff receives.

Children's fair is Saturday

There may not be any such thing as a free lunch, but for this weekend, there’s definitely such a thing as a free fair.

The 18th annual Children’s Fair will take place from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at Freeman Lake Park. The fair is free for families and offers games, prizes and entertainment for children ages 1 to 12.
