One injured in wreck on South...
Higdon funeral burglary case in...

Last June’s burglary of a Clarkson home while parents attended their slain son’s funeral has drawn national attention.

NBC’s “Today Show” was in the area last week interviewing Cindy and Dennis Higdon, whose son, Christian, was killed June 16, 2012, with a hatchet. When the family returned from the June 20 burial, they found their home ransacked.

NBC correspondent Jeff Rossen said the network found burglaries such as the Higdons have become a growing trend around the country.

Hardin County case to be heard...

The Kentucky Supreme Court will hear oral arguments today in Frankfort concerning an April 2009 drug bust in Elizabethtown.

Asia F. Bucalo, 36, was sentenced in January 2010 after entering a conditional guilty plea to charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, two counts of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was sentenced to 12 years in prison with seven years to serve and five years probated.

I-65 wreck injures woman, snarls...

A seven-vehicle wreck left a woman injured and a major traffic backup Monday morning on Interstate 65.

The wreck occurred at about 9:30 a.m. between mile markers 96 and 97 in the northbound lanes of I-65.

Central Hardin Fire Department Chief Everett Roberts said the incident included seven vehicles in three separate crashes.

Charles “Casey” Miller, 38, of Paducah said the initial crash began when his white Dodge truck hydroplaned for about 100 yards.

E'town residents line up to...

Despite the clear, sunny sky Tuesday afternoon, the mood along Mulberry Street in Elizabethtown was somber as residents lined the sidewalks to pay their final respects to Mayor Tim Walker.

Residents young and old wrapped around City Hall at the intersection of Dixie Avenue and Mulberry Street. The line of people extended to Strawberry Alley as they watched the string of city, police, fire and private vehicles proceed to the burial site at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.

Others were sprinkled along the funeral procession route.

Swope’s Cars of Yesteryear Museum is receiving a series of concept cars once featured in the Walter P. Chrysler Museum in Michigan. The museum has closed, affording one the local Swope dealership the opportunity to show off some of the cars, which are designed with futuristic features but not put into production.

E'town native named Ashland...

Elizabethtown native Trooper Devan Cleaver has been named Kentucky State Police Post 14 (Ashland) Trooper of the Year. Cleaver received the honor May 23 in Frankfort from KSP Commissioner Rodney Brewer and Justice and Public Safety Cabinet Secretary J. Michael Brown .

 

Central Hardin's baseball,...

Central Hardin's bid to win another state baseball championship ended Friday night in the semifinal round.

Pleasure Ridge Park fell behind 2-0 before scoring 10 runs in the third to defeat the Bruins, 10-3 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington. The Bruins end the season with a record of 34-6 including a perfect 16-0 against 5th Region opposition.

PRP beat Mercer County for the state title Saturday. Mercer defeated Henderson County 7-2 in the first semifinal game Friday.

I-65 wreck slows down traffic,...

A multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 65 has shut down traffic along the northbound lanes.

The accident happened between the 96 and 97 mile markers at about 9:30 a.m. with seven vehicles involved. Traffic currently is backed up past the Exit 94 mile marker. Only the right-hand lane is open.

At least one person was trapped in a vehicle and has been airlifted from the scene.

From the time his former basketball coach gave him his first coaching job in 2007, Josh Henderson wanted one thing: to become a head coach some day.

On Thursday, Henderson finally got his chance.

After six seasons as an assistant coach under Paul Childress at LaRue County, Henderson was officially tabbed to take over as coach of the Meade County Green Wave.
