Radcliff City Council to hold...

A special meeting of Radcliff City Council will be conducted Monday afternoon at City Hall prior to its scheduled work session.

The franchise bid for electrical service  is on the agenda as well as a closed session to discuss possible sale or aquistion of property, litigation or business development.

The work session, which does not include decision-making votes by the council, will follow. It has a separate agenda that includes lists of items for a surplus auction, rental rates for the amphitheater in City Park North. tree limb disposal and stormwater.

Country music is dominating Hardin County this summer.

Radcliff has landed country musician David Lee Murphy to headline its Summer Blast concert on June 29. Murphy announced the stop as part of his summer tour on his official website.

Known for hits like “Dust on the Bottle” and “Party Crowd,” Murphy’s performance will follow an appearance by Trace Adkins at Fort Knox. Tracy Lawrence also has been scheduled to headline Elizabethtown’s Heartland Festival in late August.

Elizabethtown Relay for Life will proceed Friday in spite of drab forecasts calling for showers.

“It is going on regardless, rain or shine,” said Carla D’Alessio, a Relay co-chairwoman.

Should inclement weather force a change from the Central Hardin High School football field, activities will move inside the school and spread out, she said.

Jisun Mudd expresses emotion in...

Art for Jisun Mudd is expressing herself through color in a way that brings joy to others.

She began painting as a teenager and was able to use art as an outlet when she became very ill. Mudd saw art as a gift from God to help her through her illness, and she’s continued for 30 years.

Mudd also is a local hairdresser, working at Headquarters Barber and Styling in Elizabethtown.

Students graduate, celebrate at...

Almost 200 graduates walked the line into a new phase of their lives Monday as the school year ended at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College.

The commencement ceremony for ECTC took place at Central Hardin High School. There were 186 graduates who participated in the ceremony, of 898 students graduating from the college this year.

David Wallace, retired chairman of Nabors Completion & Production Services Company, gave the commencement address. He is a 1974 ECTC graduate and was named a distinguished alumnus in 2010.

Bro Ride: Take it easy

On any given weekend I find myself on a Bro Ride.

No, the Bro Ride isn’t me cruisin’ in my car with a bunch of buddies. The weekend Bro Ride is what I call car time with Tybalt, our Pomeranian.

Like many companions of the canine ilk, Tybalt loves to go for car rides. Neither the destination nor the duration of the ride matter much.

May is Mobility Awareness Month, which brings attention to people who have disabilities that inhibit their motion and showing the world how they overcome those challenges.
