Investigators with the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office have identified three suspects they believe solicited thousands of dollars from local businesses in a scam to sell calendar advertisements.

The sheriff’s office began investigating in May after receiving several complaints concerning a man attempting to solicit money for advertisements in a calendar for the Hardin Circuit Court Clerk’s Office, according to police.

John Hardin selects new principal

The John Hardin High School site-based decision-making council has selected one of the school’s assistant principals, Lynne Gibson, to be the new JHHS principal.

“The John Hardin leadership wants to move from being a good school to a great school. Lynne is up to the challenge,” Superintendent Nannette Johnston said in a statement. “We are excited for her and the John Hardin High School family.”

The new principal at John Hardin High School is a familiar face to the school’s staff and students.

Lynne Gibson, an assistant principal at John Hardin, replaces Alvin Garrison. Garrison is leaving at the end of the month to take over as superintendent at Covington Independent Schools.

Gibson was one of the first teachers hired at the school when it opened in 2001, and said, “my heart and my soul is in this school.”

“There’s nowhere I’d rather be, nothing I’d rather be doing,” she said.

Fields, barns and antique Oliver tractors he helped his grandfather refurbish all contribute to the roots of Taul’s music.

Home educated, Taul spent a lot of his spare time on the farm. His first job, at age 17, was with the family business, Taul Equipment.

Mother files wrongful death suit

The mother of a Magnolia man shot and killed by a LaRue County Sheriff’s deputy in December has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the deputy, the LaRue County Sheriff’s Office and LaRue County government in U.S. District Court.

The civil suit filed by Carolyn Chaudoin, mother of Thomas Earl Ferguson and administrator of his estate, said deputy James E. Williamson used excessive force and displayed negligence when he fatally wounded her son.

A hall of old things no more

Friday’s reopening of the Gen. George Patton Museum of Leadership will be a cause for celebration for Fort Knox, the Army and the state, Director Christopher Kolakowski said.

The museum will return following a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Gov. Steve Beshear and Maj. Gen. Jefforey Smith, commander of Cadet Command and Fort Knox, are scheduled to speak and tour the museum following the ceremony. Music will be provided by the 113th Army Band.
