Radcliff removes city firearm...

Radcliff repealed an ordinance Tuesday night giving the mayor authority to restrict access to firearms and ammunition in emergency situations and heard the first reading of an ordinance prohibiting non-firearm weapons in city parks.

Hannas celebrate 50th anniversary

Robert and Christa Hanna of Austin, Texas, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary May 25, 2013.

They were married May 25, 1963, in Glendale.

Mr. Hanna served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, was president of Austin Science Associates and worked for LCRA.

They have a daughter, Diana, of Austin; and two grandchildren.

Sarti - Dvorjak

Dennis and Mary Rose Dvorjak of Elizabethtown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their son, Daniel Christopher Dvorjak, to Daniela Garcia Penha Sarti, daughter of Luiz C. and Tanya Penha Sarti of Sao Paolo, Brazil.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Sao Paolo State University and is a Ph.D candidate in crop science at the University of Kentucky.

The prospective groom is a graduate of John Hardin High School and the University of Kentucky ROTC program. He is a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army, serving in Vilseck, Germany.

The children of Talina Lee Patterson and Tommy Gordon Tedder, both of Buffalo, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Gary and Linda McCown of Radcliff. She is a 2008 graduate of North Hardin High School.

The prospective groom is the son of Rodney and Hilda Spradlin of Smiths Grove and Sherice and David Mobley of Horse Cave. He is a 2006 graduate of Hart County High School and is a Mineman 2nd Class in the U.S. Navy.

Woman wrecks car after driving...

A Louisville woman avoided injuring herself and others Friday night after driving the wrong way for six miles on Interstate-65 and wrecking her vehicle.

Joanne Gonzalez, 64, said she took a wrong turn, accidentally entering onto the interstate via the off ramp at exit 94 in a silver SUV, said Norm Chaffins, Kentucky State Police public affairs officer.

Gonzalez continued driving south in the northbound lanes, managing to not strike any of the oncoming vehicles until she exited off of the median near exit 88, flipping her vehicle, Chaffins said.

Skaggses celebrate 70th...

Howard and Lucille Bailey Skaggs of Upton will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary with a reception hosted by their children from 2 to 5 p.m. EDT May 19, 2013, at Three Forks Bacon Creek Fellowship Hall in Hammonsville.

They were married on May 22, 1943.

They have five children, Jim Skaggs, lmogene Warren, Gerald Skaggs, Eloise Phillips and Mellony Skaggs; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

All friends and relatives are invited to join in the celebration. Please, no gifts.

PREP GIRLS' TENNIS:...

LEXINGTON— As Mackenzie Snow raised her racket for a slam, she took her eye off of the ball for a split second and missed it as a look of surprise crept over her face.

Mary-Chapin Snow, however, had her back.

The older sister circled back around to the ball and sent a return to the middle of the court to Covington Notre Dame’s Laura Irons.

After Irons returned it, Mackenzie Snow made a nice play at the net for a winner.
