Hardin District Judge Shumate...

Hardin District Judge Kimberly Winkenhofer Shumate was a special guest of DAV Chapter No. 003 at its March meeting at Pritchard Community Center. Shumate addressed members and described the new Veterans Court that soon will be piloted in Hardin County. She advised Jefferson County was selected to serve as the urban model while Hardin County was selected for the rural model of the first Veterans Courts in Kentucky.

During National Library Week, April 15 through 20, the Radcliff Woman’s Club shared a few words with the Hardin County Public Library, North Branch in Radcliff. Words like “good job,” “keep up the excellent work” and “we support you” were conveyed through the contribution of three books to the library.

Living Faith lends a hand to...

Members of Living Faith Baptist Fellowship in Elizabethtown recently visited Tammy Simpson’s second-grade class at Owsley County Elementary School. They brought a bag of books for summer reading for each of the 22 students in the class, as well as other items for the children’s summer enjoyment.

Laura Stewart and Craig Bell announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Carl Jr. and Lola Stewart of Millwood. She is a certified surgical technologist and first assistant at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

The prospective groom is the son of Tommy and Frankie Bell of Hodgenville. He is the owner of Craig Bell Electric in Hodgenville.

The wedding is May 31, 2013, at Pleasant Valley United Baptist Church.

At the invitation of the chief justice, Kentucky judges recently came together for a joint two-day college to focus on a variety of topics of interest to trial court and appellate judges.

The Administrative Office of the Courts hosted a Spring Judicial College for Supreme Court justices and Court of Appeals, Circuit Court and District Court judges April 23 and 24 in Lexington.
