PREP ROUNDUP: Lady Hawks win; North Hardin goes 1-1

An early 3-0 lead for the LaRue County softball team propelled the Lady Hawks to a 3-1 victory over North Hardin on Friday.

After back-to-back singles in the bottom of the first for the Lady Hawks, Emma Bell made contact on a 1-0 pitch and scored two runs on an RBI double.

LaRue County added on in the bottom of the third after a groundout by Natalie Gentry scored Bell from third base. For the next three innings it would be a pitching duel between North Hardin’s Graysen Lowery and LaRue County’s Sarah Jo Calhoun. Lowery tossed six innings and allowed six hits. Calhoun pitched seven innings and gave up six hits.

Emilee Fife recorded the only run for North Hardin after she reached base on an error, allowing Emma Corder to score.

North Hardin (12-14) travels to Fort Knox Tuesday to face Elizabethtown in the 17th District Tournament.

LaRue County has won 3-of-5 as it starts the 18th District Tournament Tuesday at home against Hart County.

DAVIESS COUNTY 10, ELIZABETHTOWN 7. The Lady Panthers lost in the Manuel Softball Showcase at the University of Louisville on Friday.

In the fourth inning, Daviess County tied the Panthers 4-4 and took the lead in the sixth inning after scoring three runs.

Miller Grace Roberts knocked an RBI double in the sixth to right field and Greysyne Whiteker closed it out for Daviess County. Savannah Northern went 5-5 at the plate and knocked four singles and a double to lead her team to the win.

Trista Colasanti was 3-for-3 with a single, double and home run for the Lady Panthers. She drove in three runs, as did Avery Simpson.

Laci Rudd doubled and Natalie Shaw had two of them. Hannah Riley singled twice.

Elizabethtown (14-13) will meet North Hardin Tuesday in the 17th District Tournament.

CENTRAL HARDIN 5, BUTLER 2. Kaci Goedde led the Lady Bruins to a win on Saturday. She gave up two runs on six hits while striking out two.

Central Hardin jumped on Butler in the first inning as Angel Ashlock scored after a single by Eleecia Hager.

Butler tied it up after Sadie Werner hit a first-pitch double to center field scoring a run.

Emma Case scored on passed ball in the bottom of the fourth for Central Hardin and recaptured the lead 3-2.

Two singles gave Butler a chance to claw back, but they stranded the runners on first and second in the top of the seventh inning.

Central Hardin had eight players record a hit. Onnica Nichols and Madyson Jones picked up an RBI. Central Hardin outhit Butler, 8-6.

The Lady Bruins (28-7) are on a five-game winning streak and await an opponent Tuesday in the 17th District Tournament. They will face the winner of the first-round game between John Hardin and Fort Knox.


LARUE COUNTY 3, NORTH HARDIN 2. The Hawks’ Bryson Arnette singled in the bottom of the fifth inning and eventually scored the run to put the hosts ahead for good.

North Hardin scored first in the top of the first inning when Kyle Collin scored on an error after he reached base on a 1-0 single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt and third on a single by Andrew Henderson.

LaRue County scratched across its first run in the first inning. A single, error and walk lead to Brooks Brackett reaching base on an error that scored. Gavin Nall and Daniel Snodgrass.

LaRue County’s Noah Davis pitched seven innings. He gave up seven hits and struckout four.

Seth Yates allowed six hits for the Trojans and struckout six.

North Hardin (28-5 ) will meet the winner of John Hardin and Fort Knox Tuesday at Elizabethtown.

EDMONSON COUNTY 9, JOHN HARDIN 2. The Bulldogs will play Fort Knox at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Elizabethtown in the 17th District Tournament.

MUHLENBERG COUNTY 10, ELIZABETH-TOWN 6. A solo shot by the Mustangs Noah Phillips gave his team a quick 1-0 lead in the first and the scoring didn’t stop for Muhlenberg County there.

The Mustangs scored in every inning except for the second.

Muhlenberg County pulled away in the third, adding two more runs. Bronzyn Healy singled on a 2-1 count scoring one and Ryan O’Neal singled on a 3-1 count, scoring the second run of the inning.

Brandon Parsons picked up two RBIs for the Panthers.

In the bottom of the second, Parsons doubled on an 0-2 pitch and scored a run from second. Parsons recorded his second RBI in the bottom of the seventh on a groundout to second base that scored a run.

Elizabethtown used three pitchers. Caleb Adams, Luke Logan and Hendrix Thomas pitched two innings each and gave up a combined 12 hits.

The Panthers will face Central Hardin in the 17th District Tournament Tuesday.

OLDHAM COUNTY 9, CENTRAL HARDIN 3. Oldham County outhit the Bruins, 11-6 to pick up the victory.

The pitchers for both teams didn’t allow run in the first three innings until the Colonels jumped to a 4-0 lead in the fourth.

Marshall Cuzick credited with the win for Oldham County and Nolan Francis took the loss. Cuzick tossed six and a third inngs while only surrendering four runs on six hits. Francis lasted three innings and gave up five hits.

Austin Reed for Oldham County racked in three hits and went perfect from the plate, 3-3.

Dillon Bland led Central Hardin with two hits.

On a two-strike count, Bland hit an RBI double on a line drive to center field in the bottom of the seventh.

Ethan Bryant and Austin Heideman each had an RBI. Heideman also tripled.

The Bruins visit Elizabethtown Tuesday in the 17th District Tournament.

NORTH HARDIN 10, MEADE COUNTY 2. The Trojans rolled over Meade County with help from a five-run first inning on Saturday.

An error and sacrifice fly scored two runs for North Hardin in the first.

On a 2-1 count, Cooper Campbell singled and scored Andrew Henderson and Jordan Moore.

Campbell finished the game with three hits and four RBIs.

Danny Coyner tossed five innings and allowed six hits and struckout three.

North Hardin has won four out of the last five games. The Trojans head to the 17th District Tournament on Tuesday.

NORTH HARDIN CHRISTIAN WINS THREE GAMES. The Lady Falcons defeated Danville (1-0) and Cornerstone (15-0) on Saturday to win the tournament.

Paris Hurd pitched eight innings. She had 14 strikeouts and three walks. North Hardin Christian totaled 17 hits and had one error.

Lauren Thompson had a single and a double. Abby Siekman had four singles and two RBIs. Hurd had two singles, a double and 3 RBIs. Lilli Schwemmer had three singles. Faith Clanton had two singles and an RBI. Sophia Smith singled twice.

NHC played Lakeside Christian at Morehead on Thursday and won, 24-5 in four innings, scoring 10 runs in the fourth.

Rylee Washer was the winning pitcher with five strikeouts and two walks in two innings. Lauren Thompson finished things up with a strikeout and seven walks.

NHC had 25 hits and no errors.

Thompson totaled two home runs and two singles. Washer added two singles, a double, a triple and 2 RBIs. Abby Siekman collected three RBIs on a home run, triple and double. Faith Clanton had a single, a double and two RBI. Lilli Schwemmer had a single, two doubles and three RBIs.

The Lady Falcons had an undefeated regular season and plays in their state tournament May 31-June 1 in Hopkinsville.
