LaRue County’s district tournament championship run now is at three years after the Lady Hawks notched a 1-0 win Thursday night over host Marion County.

The Lady Hawks (12-7-1) used a goal from senior forward Kylee Nunn with about 30 minutes to play to provide the only scoring in the 18th District Tournament title contest. Senior keeper Josie Adams earned the shutout for LaRue County.

The win marked the second 1-0 victory over Marion County this season by the Lady Hawks.

BOYS

GRAYSON COUNTY 1, MEADE COUNTY 0. The Green Wave dropped a nail-biter at home Thursday night in the 11th District Tournament final.

The Cougars (12-6-2) scored about 10 minutes into the game and then held on to defeat the Green Wave (2-15-2) for the second time this season. Both teams advance to the 3rd Region Tournament.

Meade County junior keeper Kyler Chapman had 10 saves, including many early in the game, coach Matt Pollock said.

“We didn’t let up, but just couldn’t find the back of the net for the tying goal,’’ Pollock said. “We didn’t come out as strong as Grayson County did in the earlier minutes of the game, but (we) held strong for the second half .... Hats off to our goalkeeper. Congratulations to Grayson County for the hard-fought win.’’
