    Junior forward Michael Reed had 12 points and seven rebounds for the Bruins (12-8), who have won 6-of-8.

    Junior guard Justin Rouse added eight points and three assists, while junior guard Tyler Woodrum scored seven.

    The Elizabethtown boys’ basketball team had its share of doubters entering this season, and the Panthers were among them.

    After graduating four starters and struggling during the offseason, the Panthers wondered what the season had in store for them. Their concerns seemed to be legitimized by a 1-3 start which saw them lose by 13, 27 and 18 points.

    The Bruins (11-8) also got 10 points and 10 rebounds from junior forward Michael Reed.

    Caleb Smith must feel like he’s in college once again and he’s cramming for finals at the end of a semester.

    John Hardin principal Lynne Gibson said Smith was named the interim girls’ basketball coach to replace Bryan Todd, who resigned Friday. Gibson and Smith met with players and parents Sunday afternoon.
