  • GIRLS' 5TH REGION...

Elizabethtown was far from perfect Sunday evening, but the top-ranked Lady Panthers stayed perfect against instate competition this season.

  • BOYS' 5TH REGION TOURNAMENT...

GREENSBURG — What becomes clear when looking at the Boys’ 5th Region Basketball Tournament quarterfinals is there are the have against the have nots. Not in terms of teams, but matchups.

  • GIRLS' 3RD REGION...

Can a reigning state tournament team be an underdog?

Despite winning the Girls’ 3rd Region Basketball Tournament last season, the Meade County Lady Waves feel like they’ve been overlooked by the rest of the region.

  • BOYS' 17th DISTRICT...

Because he missed practice Friday afternoon, Tony Jackson was relegated to North Hardin’s bench for the first quarter of Saturday night’s Boys’ 17th District Basketball Tournament final.

With the way the second-seeded Trojans played without him against top-seeded Elizabethtown, Jackson might have been able to sit the final three quarters, too.

  • BOYS' 17TH DISTRICT...

The North Hardin Trojans have shown the ability this season to make a number of highlight-reel plays. They’ve had thunderous dunks and alley-oops, both of which have brought Trojan Nation to its feet.

  • GIRLS' 17TH DISTRICT...

The nets are still up at Charlie Rawlings Memorial Gymnasium. Partly because top-ranked Elizabethtown has its goals set higher than a Girls’ 17th District Basketball Tournament title and partly because cutting down nets that would have to be replaced since the Lady Panthers are still practicing on those goals is too big of a hassle.

  • GIRLS' 17TH DISTRICT...

The Elizabethtown Lady Panthers have a difficult time putting what they accomplished Friday night in perspective. It was the program’s 10th consecutive 17th District championship, adding another chapter to a storied tradition and extending their record streak.

  • BOYS' 11TH DISTRICT...

CLOVERPORT — As the Meade County Green Wave found out Friday night, sometimes you live by the 3 and sometimes you die by the 3.

The Breckinridge County Fighting Tigers took away Meade County’s best long-range shooter in sophomore guard Calvin Hackert, forcing the Green Wave to find another way to beat them at the Cloverport Sports Center.

  • GIRLS' 5TH REGION...

The Elizabethtown Lady Panthers are glad they don’t have to wait long for their 5th Region Tournament opener, while the North Hardin Lady Trojans don’t mind having a couple of days to regroup before their region quarterfinal.

  • 3RD REGION TOURNAMENTS: Both...

The 11th District Tournament champion Meade County Lady Waves begin the defense of their Girls’ 3rd Region Basketball Tournament title by facing a team which hasn’t appeared in the region tournament in four years.

Meade County (18-9) meets the McLean County Lady Cougars (17-13) in the quarterfinals at 6 p.m. Monday at the Owensboro Sportscenter.
