    North Hardin senior Thomas Kimble struck out 11 of the 29 Fort Knox hitters he faced, leading the host Trojans to a 6-3 win in a 17th District game at James R. Aldridge Field.

    Kimble scattered three runs, three walks and two hits as the Trojans (11-10, 2-3 district) won for the fifth time in six games.

    Elizabethtown junior Hunter Sullivan might miss the rest of the season with an injury to his right elbow.

    Sullivan, who plays shortstop and pitches, felt discomfort in his elbow after throwing a pitch against Central Hardin on April 15. He finished the sixth inning before being removed for a reliever in the 5-4 loss.

    With North Hardin’s Travis Smiley and Elizabethtown’s Cody Bridges locked into a pitcher’s duel Wednesday, it seemed as if offense would be at a premium between the 17th District rivals.

    The senior southpaws matched each other with three innings of no-hit ball, with Smiley striking out five of the first 10 hitters he faced and Bridges fanning three.

    Behind grand slams from senior Kelsey McGuffin and junior Mariah Bryant, the 13th-ranked Central Hardin Lady Bruins avenged a loss to Green County in last year’s 5th Region Softball Tournament championship with a 16-5 five-inning rout of the Lady Dragons.
