  • BOYS' PREP CROSS COUNTRY...

Robert Rupp can remember a time when he didn’t give much thought to running, or to anything else, really.

He was, by his own account, heading down some bad paths as a middle schooler, and didn’t know what was going to happen to his future.

But as a freshman, Rupp, now a North Hardin senior, decided to give cross country a try.

  • BOYS' PREP CROSS COUNTRY...

Separated by just 10 points at last year’s state cross country meet, things should be just as close between the North Hardin Trojans and Meade County Green Wave this year.

North Hardin was seventh and Meade County eighth at State a year ago, and both teams return a wealth of talent and experience.

  • GIRLS' PREP CROSS COUNTRY...

    Hannah Godfrey? Gone.

Mackenzie Pennington and Abbie Chandler? Also gone.

Some of the easily recognizable names in the area girls’ cross country scene over the last few years have moved on to the next phases of their lives, be it getting an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy like Godfrey or starting college like Chandler and Pennington.

  • GIRLS' PREP CROSS COUNTRY...

The race for a spot in the Class 3-A state meet could get very interesting in Region 2 this season.

With four teams vying for three qualifying spots, that could lead to a stressful year for coaches but a fun one for spectators.

  • PREP FOOTBALL: Central Hardin...

Week 1 was supposed to be a chance for the Central Hardin Bruins to show off a revamped style of play, but instead it was the North Hardin Trojans who looked vastly different from last season.

  • PREP FOOTBALL: New-look Trojans...

The North Hardin Trojans made it loud and clear for anyone watching their season opener against the Central Hardin Bruins that they’re a far different team than last year’s squad which went 1-10 and lost in the first round of the Class 5-A playoffs.

  • PREP FOOTBALL: E'town...

The Elizabethtown Panthers made two trips to Fort Knox over the weekend, played less than 13 minutes and still got a win.

If things keep going this way, everything will be all right in the Mark Brown era.

  • PREP FOOTBALL: John Hardin to...

The John Hardin Bulldogs opened the season Friday night like most schools in Kentucky, but unlike most, their season opener still isn’t finished.

  • PREP FOOTBALL: Meade explodes...

Giving the Meade County Green Wave a short field is not a good thing for opponents.

Just ask the Breckinridge County Fighting Tigers.

Meade County blocked three punts and turned the short-field situations into three touchdowns in a 41-0 romp of rival Breckinridge County at Hamilton Field on Friday.
