  • PREP TRACK: Lady Panthers win...

Elizabethtown senior Emily Richardson believes the Lady Panthers are starting to hit their stride.

With less than a month left in the season, that’s what Richardson wants to see from her team.

The Lady Panthers won two events and finished in the top five in nine others as they won Friday’s Panther Twilight Invitational at Central Hardin with 108.5 points.

Nelson County was second with 99.50 points, while South Warren (79.50), Bardstown (72.50) and Greenwood (57) rounded out the top five.

  • MIDDLE SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL: East...

The East Hardin Lady Rebels fought off a match point in the second set of the Middle School Athletic Conference eighth-grade final.

It was significant because the Lady Rebels ended up winning the second and third sets to claim the championship Thursday evening at Central Hardin High School’s Bruin Gym.

West Hardin won the first set, 21-16 and built a big lead in the second set. But East Hardin rallied to pull out a 22-20 victory.

  • PREP BASEBALL/SOFTBALL ROUNDUP:...

The Meade County Green Wave jumped out to a 2-0 lead against fifth-ranked Louisville Male on Thursday in the Louisville Invitational Tournament, only to watch the Bulldogs score seven unanswered runs en route to a 7-2 win.

Male, which won its fourth straight, tied it in the bottom of the first and took the lead in the second against Meade County sophomore Josh Durbin (2-1), who gave up 10 hits, three earned runs and one walk in five innings.

Green Wave coach Todd Clanton was far from disappointed in Durbin, who had four strikeouts.

  • PREP TRACK: Central's Adams...

Just over a year ago, Brandon Adams’ life changed.

Last April 14, Central Hardin’s head track and field coach was involved in a motorcycle accident on Western Kentucky Parkway.

Adams was westbound on the parkway when he lost control of his 2003 Suzuki bike and into the path of an eastbound Chevrolet SUV. He was airlifted to University Hospital in Louisville with several injuries.

  • PREP BASEBALL: Trojans cruise to...

Javier Echevarria had a difficult time putting his performance into words.

The primarily Spanish-speaking sophomore pitcher from North Hardin doesn’t speak very much English, but his catcher and coach had no problem describing his effort Thursday.

Echevarria threw a complete-game shutout with 11 strikeouts and added a solo home run to cap North Hardin’s 8-0 victory over 17th District rival John Hardin.

  • PREP SOFTBALL: Central Hardin...

Junior April Pence and sophomore Alex Griffith took care of business inside the circle Thursday night for Central Hardin, while senior Jordan Lasley and sophomore Kelsey McGuffin put on a power show at the plate.

  • PREP BASEBALL: No. 1 Central...

Central Hardin senior Gabe Hogan seemed to be right in the middle of the action Thursday night, while fellow senior Drew Harrington kept preventing the Elizabethtown Panthers from getting anything going.

Hogan went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Harrington tossed another shutout and the newly top-ranked Bruins rolled to a 5-0 victory over Elizabethtown in a 17th District game on Ron Myers Field at Panther Baseball Park.
