  • BOYS' PREP SOCCER: Bridges...

    His coach said he’s a baseball player who plays soccer, but Elizabethtown senior forward Cody Bridges looked a lot like a very good offensive player on the pitch this season for the upstart Elizabethtown Panthers.

    After scoring 27 goals and assisting on nine others, Bridges was voted Offensive Player of the Year on the annual Boys’ All-Area Soccer Team.

    Walking off the field Oct. 3 at Louisville Male, the Meade County Green Wave knew something had to change.

    They had just been shut out for the first time in 40 games, and this was after a win over Warren East the previous week when they scored just 10 points.

    Chad Lewis and Lance Gregory started their coaching careers at John Hardin, spending eight years together on Coach Mark Brown’s staff.

    Even though Gregory left after the 2008 season to take the Graves County job, Lewis and Gregory have remained close friends, talking usually two to three times a week during football season.

    Junior guard Eliza Groholske scored 11 points and sophomore guard Skye Brown added 10, leading the North Hardin Christian Lady Falcons to a 46-37 win over the Western Kentucky Trailblazers on Monday.

    It was Coach Paige Hardin’s first win with the Lady Falcons.

    Junior forward Allison Gray chipped in with seven points.
