    Twelve area athletes are among the several hundred competing in the AAU Junior Olympics beginning this weekend at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

    The Hardin County-based Kentucky Elite summer track team feature athletes from Elizabethtown, Meade County and North Hardin who will compete at Drake Stadium.

    Events start at 8 a.m. Saturday and run through Aug. 2.
