    It would have been easy for the Central Hardin Bruins to let their defensive performance snowball on them, but they showed the signs of a veteran team, rebounding from the difficult start in the field.

    Elizabethtown senior right-hander Jordan Read threw a complete-game one-hitter and the visiting Panthers tuned up for Thursday’s showdown against Central Hardin with an 11-0 rout of the Fort Knox Eagles in five innings Tuesday.
    Read (2-0) struck out 11 and walked two as Elizabethtown (19-3, 6-1 district) won its seventh straight.

    After simply overpowering the Lady Panthers in the teams’ first meeting this season, the 16th-ranked Lady Bruins relied on senior pitcher Alex Griffith and their defense to complete the sweep Tuesday.

    The wealth was spread around Monday night during the 5th Region Tennis Tournament draw.
    The 32 seeds for the 198-player tournament, which opens Friday morning and ends Wednesday night at the Freeman Lake Tennis Complex in Elizabethtown, were divvied up amongst 12 schools in the 17-school event.
