  • GIRLS' PREP SOCCER PREVIEW...

This season will be a first for Meade County coach Dan Shook.

He typically has 20 girls dress for varsity games, give or take a few. This season — at least at the beginning — he only has 14 girls, the fewest of his career.

  • GIRLS' PREP SOCCER PREVIEW...

With the deactivation of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division in May, a lot of uncertainty surrounded the Fort Knox Lady Eagles.

After snapping a 79-match winless streak against 17th District opponents with a shootout win over North Hardin in the district tournament quarterfinal, third-year coach Melissa Fleisher was excited for this season.

Phillips scored off an assist from senior Fernando Carmona, while senior Zach Fairfax had the assist on Martin’s goal.

Freshman keeper Steven Taylor made four saves.

  • PREP VOLLEYBALL PREVIEW: Meade...

The Meade County Lady Waves have gone from the guidance of one former star to another.

After serving as an assistant to former coach Shajauna Ditto for three seasons, 24-year-old Morgan Benham is now in charge. Benham, who graduated in 2008, was the Area Player of the Year in 2007.

Tiffany Walker is in her second season as John Hardin’s coach, but she feels like she’s back to Square One at times with the Lady Bulldogs.

  • PREP VOLLEYBALL PREVIEW:...

Bart Catlett’s not sure if his Eliza-bethtown Lady Panthers overachieved last season, but they sure didn’t settle for rebuilding.

  • PREP VOLLEYBALL PREVIEW: LaRue...

This season was supposed to be the start of a different era at LaRue County.

With two All-State players graduating and the coach stepping down, a program which has averaged more than 21 wins over the last five seasons seemed to be in transition.

Though Ivy Brown and Alley Evans have moved on to college, at least the Lady Hawks got their coach back.

  • GIRLS' PREP GOLF: Lady...

The always challenging Central Hardin Lady Bruin Invitational is getting smaller, but that’s perfectly fine with coach and tournament director Chris Adams.
