  • PREP HOOPS: Bruins put perfect...

The Elizabethtown Panthers and Central Hardin Bruins have been on opposite ends of the spectrum to start the season, but both get a fresh slate tonight when they begin 17th District play.

  • PREP WRESTLING: Bruin Classic is...

After 10 years of hosting an early-December duals meet, Central Hardin wrestling coach Russ Pike decided to mix things up.

Hoping to lure more teams to Bruin Gym, Pike has changed the Bruin Duals to Saturday’s Bruin Classic, a weight-class tournament featuring 10 teams — including seven Region 2 foes.

  • PREP HOOPS ROUNDUP: Trojans...

Despite missing 19 free throws Thursday night, the North Hardin Trojans managed to find a way to keep their winning streak intact.

Junior forward Brandon Maxwell had 15 points and four rebounds and junior forward Andre Harris had 14 points and six rebounds to lead the host Trojans to a 54-50 win over the Mercer County Titans to run their winning streak to four.

Scoring only 12 points in the second half didn’t matter much to the Elizabethtown Lady Panthers on Thursday night.

Not after the way they played in the first half.

Buoyed by a 30-point second quarter, top-ranked Elizabethtown built a 50-15 halftime advantage on its way to a 62-32 victory over visiting Louisville Mercy at Charlie Rawlings Memorial Gymnasium.

  • BOYS' PREP HOOPS: Meade...

It was supposed to take the Meade County Green Wave some time to get acclimated with their football team making another deep run in the playoffs.

The Green Wave, however, aren’t following that script.

Meade County won its third straight game with a 57-41 victory Tuesday night over visiting Hancock County in the 11th District opener for both teams.

  • GIRLS' PREP HOOPS: Win over...

Tuesday night might as well have been a moral loss for high-powered Elizabethtown instead of a 52-point home rout against one of the Lady Panthers’ chief 5th Region Tournament contenders.

  • PREP HOOPS ROUNDUP: Bruins win...

Junior guard Tyler Woodrum hit four 3-pointers and scored 15 points, leading the visiting Central Hardin Bruins to a 60-48 win over Grayson County on Tuesday.

Woodrum also had three assists and three steals for the Bruins (3-0), who won their third straight.
