  • PREP FOOTBALL: Thompson out as...

After just two seasons, Shawn Thompson is out as head football coach at Fort Knox.

Athletic director Jackie Prather officially announced the change Tuesday afternoon, saying Thompson is no longer the Eagles’ coach.

“It wasn’t a resignation,” she said. “He will no longer be coaching for us. We wish him well. Things didn’t go the way we had hoped. The administration wanted to go in a different direction.”

  • PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Hawks...

Senior guard Kelton Ford neared a triple-double and the LaRue County Hawks snapped a two-game losing streak in a rout of Campbellsville on Monday.

Ford had 30 points, nine assists, six rebounds and four steals to lead the host Hawks to an 85-45 win over the Eagles.

  • GIRLS' PREP BASKETBALL:...

There’s at least one good thing about the KHSAA’s new 35-point running clock mercy rule: It makes ugly games go by a lot faster.

The North Hardin Lady Trojans found this out at home Monday night in the final 11:50 of their 48-14 rout of 17th District rival Central Hardin.

“The only good thing about this is that we’re now 3-0 in the district. That’s it,” said second-year North Hardin coach Chris Corder. “That’s the only positive that I’m able to gleam from this debacle.”

  • PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Bruins...

Central Hardin rallied from a big first-quarter deficit and turned Saturday afternoon’s game in the McDonald’s Hoopin’ it Up Classic at Adair County into a blowout.

  • GIRLS' PREP BASKETBALL:...

Ivy Brown admitted she didn’t have the best game of her career in a loss to the North Hardin Lady Trojans.

The LaRue County junior guard only scored 10 points as the Lady Hawks saw their three-game winning streak snapped. She made up for it in a big way Friday against visiting 18th District rival Caverna.

Brown scored 30 points and had 10 rebounds, four steals and two assists to lead the Lady Hawks to a 60-22 win over the Lady Colonels.

  • GIRLS' PREP BASKETBALL:...

The North Hardin Lady Trojans looked more like spectators in their own game than participants in the first half Friday night.

The Lady Trojans struggled offensively the first 16 minutes. Instead of attacking or getting any movement, they settled for jumpers and ill-advised shots.

After a shaky first half, the Lady Trojans used a 19-6 third-quarter run to take control in a 59-48 victory over the John Hardin Lady Bulldogs in a 17th District game at the Dawg Pound.

  • BOYS' PREP BASKETBALL: John...

North Hardin coach Ron Bevars felt ill most of Friday and he wasn’t feeling much better after watching his Trojans on Friday night.

The John Hardin Bulldogs have a way of doing that to opposing coaches.

Although the Trojans slowed down red-hot point senior guard Brandon Price, the Bulldogs showed they aren’t a one-man show, rolling to a 76-45 victory over North Hardin at the Dawg Pound.

  • PREP WRESTLING: Meade, LaRue go...

Wyatt Overman sensed Raymundo Perez was tiring.

But with time running out, the Central Hardin 138-pound senior had to pick his spot to shoot in for the winning takedown of Perez, a LaRue County junior who’s ranked second in the state by kentuckywrestling.com.

Overman – who’s ranked sixth at 126 pounds – made his move with 3 seconds remaining, scoring a takedown to upset Perez, 11-9 on Saturday during the Central Hardin Bruin Duals.
