    Josh Kleber and Brandon Franklin each left Thursday night’s game in the fourth quarter with injuries, but the brothers from Kansas made their impact felt.

    Kleber, a junior fullback, rushed for a game-high 179 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries and Franklin, a sophomore quarterback, scored three rushing TDs to lead the host Fort Knox Eagles to a 41-31 win over Kentucky Country Day at McAdams Field.

    At least 12 girls’ teams and 10 boys’ teams will be competing Saturday in the 21st annual Central Hardin Cross Country Invitational at Freeman Lake Park.

    Teams attending are Central Hardin, Elizabethtown (girls only), Fort Knox, John Hardin, LaRue County, North Hardin (girls only), Bullitt Central, Bullitt East, Grayson County, Lexington Christian, Louisville Pleasure Ridge Park and Nelson County.

    Second-ranked Lexington Catholic scored 2 minutes in and again with 26 minutes to go to beat No. 12 Elizabethtown, 2-0 on Monday in the Lexington Catholic Lady Knights Cup.

    Elizabethtown (7-4-2) fell to 1-2-2 in its last five games, while Lexington Catholic won its sixth straight.

    Junior keeper Audrey Duke didn’t make a save, while senior reserve Jasmine Brissett had one.

    Freshman midfielder Mia Wiersema and sophomore midfielder Haley Ennis scored a goal apiece as the 22nd-ranked Central Hardin Lady Bruins rallied past 5th Region rival Bardstown, 2-1 on Wednesday in the Boyle County Little Caesar’s Classic.

    After Central Hardin (7-2-1) fell behind 1-0 in the first 4 minutes, Wiersema notched the equalizer off an assist from junior striker Lauren Norton with 8 minutes to go in the half. Ennis scored on a breakaway midway through the second half to put the Lady Bruins in the lead.
