  • PREP BASEBALL: Green Wave hand...

Too uptight after their first three games, the Meade County Green Wave got a little squirrelly.

They finally relaxed, had fun and acted like kids again.

Garrett Ledford’s wicked curveball helped the Green Wave curtail their early season losing skid, too.

A senior pitcher, Ledford struck out nine batters in six innings Thursday and added some offense with a run-scoring single to guide Meade County to a 6-1 win over visiting North Hardin.

  • GIRLS' STATE BOWLING...

LOUISVILLEThe North Hardin Lady Trojans’ best still wasn’t enough to beat the state’s almost best.

Despite vastly improved seeding totals and baker averages from last week’s region tournament, the first-year program from Radcliff couldn’t avoid a straight-game loss to the fifth-seeded Lexington Bryan Station Lady Defenders in the first round of the inaugural Ebonite International/KHSAA State Bowling Championships at Executive Strike and Spare.

  • INDIVIDUAL STATE BOWLING...

Keri Johnson wasn’t expecting the ovation she received Monday morning as the junior walked into Central Hardin High School.

Less than 48 hours after knocking off three straight Taylor County Lady Cardinals to win the girls’ individual title at the 2nd (Mid Kentucky) Region Tournament at Campbellsville’s Phillips Lanes, Johnson received a superstar welcome.

  • PREP SOFTBALL: John Hardin tops...

John Hardin’s two youngest players came through in the clutch Thursday.

  • BOYS' STATE BOWLING...

LOUISVILLEThe John Hardin Bulldogs might as well have been the John Hardin Underdogs entering boys’ team bracket play Thursday at the inaugural Ebonite International/KHSAA State Bowling Championships at Executive Strike and Spare.

The 2nd (Mid Kentucky) Region Tournament runner-ups entered the tournament seeded last in the individual seeding game and last in baker average based on the results of the eight region tournaments.

  • PREP BASEBALL/SOFTBALL ROUNDUP:...

One day after picking up their first win, the Fort Knox Eagles made three errors and fell to visiting Louisville Western, 8-5 on Wednesday.

  • PREP BOWLING: State bowling...

By the time the North Hardin Lady Trojans had arrived home Saturday night from a long day on the lanes competing in the 2nd (Mid Kentucky) Region Tournament at Campbellsville’s Phillips Lanes, the North Hardin message marquee outside of the school had already been changed to honor them for the runner-up finish.

  • PREP BASEBALL: Efficiency pays...

The word of the night for the LaRue County Hawks was efficient.

Senior Slade Owens pitched efficiently in his complete game performance, not wasting pitches, and the Hawks backed Owens by jumping out to a large lead early on their way to a 6-1 victory over the Elizabethtown Panthers on Wednesday at Panther Baseball Park.

  • PREP SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: No. 9...

Senior Abbi Goedde hit a two-run homer, doubled, singled and drove in three runs as ninth-ranked Central Hardin blanked No. 4 Owensboro Catholic, 5-0 on Tuesday.

Freshman Kelsey McGuffin went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while junior Jordan Lasley had an RBI double.

  • PREP BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Glasgow...

The Glasgow Scotties jumped out to a three-run lead after two innings Tuesday and held on to upset No. 2 Central Hardin, 3-2.
