    “We tell these kids it’s a new week and we want to get better each week,” Thompson said. “It’s scary being that it’s a rivalry game. Central Hardin is a talented team. We don’t want emotions to take over. We want to take care of business in practice and let it be about us.”

    Senior midfielder Chase Long had two goals and an assist as the host Meade County Green Wave snapped a two-game winless streak with a 4-0 win over former district rival Fort Knox on Tuesday.
    After senior defender Justin Mosier scored off a throw in by senior midfielder Austin Lancaster, Long increased Meade County’s lead to 3-0. Senior defender Jacob Waldecker scored the final goal off a cross from Long.
    Senior keeper Alex Fackler made two saves for Meade County (6-1-3).
    Fort Knox (1-9-1) lost its third straight.

    Before practice Tuesday, several members of the Elizabethtown Panthers football team admitted they failed to prepare for last week’s game and as such, they instead prepared to fail in their 54-0 road loss to the North Oldham Mustangs.

    The Panthers (1-3) were held to 123 yards on 38 plays and allowed the Mustangs (4-0) – ranked 12th in Class 4-A in this week’s Associated Press poll – to amass 445 of their 535 yards on the ground.
