    For the second straight day, the Elizabethtown Lady Panthers are facing another familiar foe in the semifinals of the Kentucky Army National Guard Titan Christmas Clash tonight.

    Senior guard Natalie Greenwell scored 21 points and senior forward Adelaide Luckett posted her second consecutive double-double (12 points, 15 rebounds) as the Lady Panthers knocked off Lincoln County, 67-55 on Tuesday to set up a rematch with Anderson County.

  • BOYS' PREP BASKETBALL...

    Senior guard Malcolm Foster scored 20 points and senior forward Jeff Richard notched a double-double (19 points, 12 rebounds) as the John Hardin Bulldogs ran their record to 10-0 on Tuesday with a 68-48 victory over the Louisville Kentucky Country Day Bearcats in the Norton Suburban Hospital Classic at Nelson County.

    Foster, who hit four 3-pointers, had two steals, while sophomore guard Brandon Price had 10 points and four steals.

  • MEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL...

    LEXINGTON — The Kentucky Wildcats weren’t looking ahead to Friday’s matchup with instate rival Louisville, but that didn’t mean they didn’t have an eye on the Cardinals.

    The Wildcats raced out to a 15-2 lead 7 minutes into Tuesday night’s game and cruised to a 91-61 over the Coppin State Eagles at Rupp Arena in their final tune-up before the annual showdown.

    LOUISVILLE Just in time for the annual showdown with rival Kentucky, Kyle Kuric finally found his stroke from the arc.

    Entering Monday’s game against Morgan State, the junior guard had hit 12-of-32 3s in nine games. He hit seven against the overmatched Bears, who fell to the Cardinals, 104-74 at the KFC Yum! Center.

  • GIRLS' PREP BASKETBALL...

    Elizabethtown senior forward Adelaide Luckett recorded a double-double Monday afternoon to help her coach, Tim Mudd, achieve a milestone win.

    Luckett had 18 points and 10 rebounds as the Lady Panthers rolled past Louisville Central, 67-46 in the first round of the Kentucky Army National Guard Titan Christmas Clash at Mercer County, giving Mudd his 400th win at Elizabethtown.

    Mudd is 400-107 in 17 years as the Lady Panthers’ coach, and is ninth in the state on the career wins list among active coaches and 24th overall.

  • BOYS' PREP BASKETBALL...

    Seven teams will travel to Hodgenville today to join the host Hawks in the LaRue County Army National Guard Holiday Classic.

    Barren County faces Louisville Waggener in the 3 p.m. quarterfinal, while Taylor County plays Paducah Lone Oak at 4:30 p.m.

    LaRue County takes on Louisville Atherton at 6:30 p.m. and Bullitt Central matches up with Washington County in the nightcap at 8.

    LaRue County will play Bullitt Central or Washington County at 4:30 p.m. (loser’s bracket semifinals) or 8 p.m. (winner’s bracket semifinals) Wednesday.

  • GIRLS' PREP BASKETBALL...

    Senior guard Jordan Daniel hit three 3-pointers and scored 17 points as the Central Hardin Lady Bruins beat Owensboro Apollo, 52-40 on Wednesday in the Hardees/Warren East Classic.

    Daniel was named to the All-Tournament team.

    Senior post Kristina Krupinski chipped in with 14 points, while senior guard Alysse Bishop scored eight and freshman guard Aislynn Barnes had six.

  • BOYS' PREP BASKETBALL...

    Junior post Adam Hendrix scored a career-high 26 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead the North Hardin Trojans to an 82-50 win over Deming on Wednesday in the Whitaker Bank/Fort Harrod Holiday Classic at Mercer County.

    Sophomore guard Jordan Brangers hit four 3-pointers and finished with 16 points, while senior forward Chris Sterusky scored 15.

    Senior guard Trevino Coney chipped in with 10 points.

  • COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Western...

    BOWLING GREEN — This was not the type of year Steffphon Pettigrew expected to have in his final season as a Western Kentucky Hilltopper.

    The former Elizabethtown High School star got a gut check Wednesday night as the Louisville Cardinals traveled down I-65 and handed his Hilltoppers a 114-82 beatdown.

    Pettigrew shined as the Hilltoppers upset the Cardinals in Nashville in 2008, which allowed the Hilltoppers to beat a ranked team for the first time in seven years and knock off their highest-ranked opponent in more than 40 years.

  • GIRLS' PREP BASKETBALL...

    Senior wing Kristin Shonkwiler hit three of her team’s eight 3-pointers and finished with 17 points and four assists as the host John Hardin Lady Bulldogs routed Henry County, 65-43, on Tuesday night in the Pinkham-Lincoln-Mercury Christmas Tournament.

    John Hardin (5-3) will play Pikeville (4-3) for the title at 2 p.m. today as both teams are 2-0 in the four-team round robin.

    Freshman wing Tajah Haley added 16 points, five steals and four assists Tuesday, while sophomore wing Ieshia Hopwood had 11 points and four assists.
