    Not until the final buzzer sounded Tuesday night could East Hardin coach Ryan Reynolds relax.

    Justin Rouse and Ean Barker did their best to calm Reynolds’ nerves.

    Rouse scored eight points and had four assists and Barker hit three 3-pointers to lead the Rebels to a 39-26 win over the Stuart Pepper Green Wave in the seventh-grade boys’ basketball championship game of the Middle School Athletic Conference tournament at Meade County High School.

    Lyndsay Whitlock and the LaRue County Lady Hawks can cross one of their preseason goals off the list.

    Whitlock scored 15 points and had six assists, five rebounds and five steals as the Lady Hawks broke the school record for wins with a 48-29 victory over 5th Region rival Washington County on Monday night.

    The homestanding Lady Hawks (23-3) broke the record set by the 1994-95 team, which went 22-8 and reached the 5th Region Tournament semifinals.

    Visiting Meade County jumped out to a nine-point lead after the first period, but North Hardin took control after that.

    The Lady Trojans used a 23-6 run over the second and third quarters and never relinquished the lead for a 58-49 victory Monday night at Ron Bevars Gymnasium.

    The John Hardin High School senior made it official Friday afternoon in the John Hardin library, signing a national letter of intent to compete on the Racers’ track and field team.

    “The first official visit I went on, as soon as I got there I loved it,” Holloway said. “It’s been my favorite for a while.”
