    Junior Chanel Roberts posted a double-double to lead the North Hardin Lady Trojans to a 55-37 win Tuesday over Leslie County in the Frankfort Western Hills Lady Wolverine Christmas Tournament.

    Roberts had 19 points, 10 rebounds and two steals, while senior Brianna Woodson chipped in with 13 points, two assists and two steals.

    Sophomore Kiera Jones and freshman Zakayshia Pass each scored six points.

  • BOYS' PREP BASKETBALL...

    LaRue County junior Kelton Ford scored 21 points to lead five players in double figures and the host Hawks hit 14 3-pointers as they rolled to a 103-37 win over Metcalfe County in the National Guard Holiday Classic on Tuesday.

    Ford, who hit three 3s, also had four rebounds, four assists and four steals. Junior Gabe Shirley added 19 points, three steals, three rebounds and two assists, while senior Kyle Sheeran had 18 points, eight assists and two steals. Sheeran hit 4-of-7 from beyond the arc.

    Senior Kyle Meredith scored 16, and sophomore Kody Key 14.

    The North Hardin Trojans’ December woes continued Monday.

    North Hardin fell behind by 20 points at halftime to top-ranked Louisville Trinity en route to a 73-43 loss in the first round of the Republic Bank Holiday Classic at Lexington Catholic.

    Senior forward Jonathan Firquin injured his left knee in last week’s KFC Holiday Classic at McCreary Central and Childress doesn’t know how long he’ll be out.

    The John Hardin Lady Bulldogs capped a perfect week in the Pinkham Lincoln Automotive Christmas Classic with two wins Friday afternoon.

    John Hardin (7-3) knocked off Whitesville Trinity, 65-21 and Clinton County, 49-31 in the final games of the five-team round robin.

    Junior Michelle Montgomery scored 14 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs past Trinity, which went scoreless in the second quarter.

    Junior Michelle Montgomery had a double-double to lead four players in double figures as host John Hardin rolled past Henry County, 56-37 on Thursday in the Pinkham Lincoln Automotive Christmas Classic.

    Montgomery had 10 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks for the Lady Bulldogs (5-3), while sophomore Zacchea Small scored 12 points.

    Sophomore Tajah Haley added 10 points, six assists and three steals, and sophomore Nawdya Fletcher chipped in with 10 points, six rebounds and three steals.

  • BOYS' PREP BASKETBALL...

    Sophomore Nic McDonald scored 14 points and sophomore Bryce Byrd added 12 as the Elizabethtown Panthers finished fifth in the Bluegrass Cellular Holiday HoopFest with a 62-50 win over Erlanger St. Henry on Thursday at Central Hardin.

    Senior Jansen Flood added 10 points, and sophomore Ja’Von Cotton had nine. Senior Todd Lucas scored six and sophomore Dominique Harding had five.

    Elizabethtown (5-3) led 28-19 at the half and 40-35 going to the fourth.

    After they lost to the Central Hardin Bruins in the teams’ first meeting this season, Thursday night was the Grayson County Cougars’ turn to be the teacher.

    And the host Bruins failed the Cougars’ English lesson.

    Senior forward Ollie Roberts, a foreign exchange student from Southampton, England, had 18 points, 12 rebounds and three assists in just 20 minutes as turnover-prone Grayson County stormed past the cold-shooting Bruins, 57-42 in the championship game of the eight-team Bluegrass Cellular Holiday HoopFest.
