    Freshman Darian Ditto and sophomore outside hitter Denisha Nichols combined for 12 kills to help lead the visiting Elizabethtown Lady Panthers past 5th Region rival Nelson County on Thursday, 25-22, 16-25, 26-24.

    Sophomore outside hitter Brittany Daniel chipped in with five kills and five aces, while freshman middle hitter/setter Mary Beth Russell added three kills, two assists and two aces.

    Junior setter Kelly Morgan had 13 assists.

    Junior midfielder Kevin Stafford scored two goals and the John Hardin Bulldogs locked up the No. 1 seed for the upcoming 10th District Tournament with a 4-0 win over homestanding Fort Knox on Thursday.

    CECILIA — Kristin Cardin is walking – well, sort of – proof that dreams don’t always turn out the way the dreamer envisioned.

    For the first time this season, the Central Hardin High School senior central midfielder took the field.

    Her time on the pitch lasted all of about 15 seconds Wednesday night as she took the opening kickoff against visiting North Oldham and dropped the ball back. Quickly, the ball was kicked out of bounds and Cardin walked back off the field.
