    BOWLING GREEN — Since Western Kentucky forward Sergio Kerusch went down with a foot injury in December, the Hilltoppers have asked even more out of Steffphon Pettigrew.

    And Pettigrew hasn’t let them down.

    The former Elizabethtown High School standout has shined with Kerusch out and on Monday, Pettigrew was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week.

    LAUGHLIN, Nev. — Elizabethtown chiropractor William C. Eriksen finished first in Class 2 at the 16th annual SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge, which was held Saturday and Sunday.

    The Laughlin Desert Challenge is the opener of the five-race SCORE Desert Series. Of the 126 racers who started, Eriksen was 1-of-61 (48.41) percent to finish.

    According to Sporting News, senior defensive end Brandon Deaderick is 1-of-8 Alabama platers who have been invited to the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, which runs from Feb. 24-March 2.

    Deaderick, a former Elizabethtown High School star, received an invitation to work out in front of NFL coaches and scouts at the combine.
