  • PREP ROUNDUP: North beats CAL, 3...

    Sophomore forward Simeon Packer scored twice, helping the North Hardin Trojans beat homestanding Christian Academy of Louisville, 3-1 on Saturday.

    Junior midfielder Danilo Giron added a goal and an assist, while sophomore midfielder Micah Linscott and senior midfielder Geoff Nelson each had an assist.

    The John Hardin Bulldogs picked up a much-needed Class 5-A, District 3 victory to keep their playoff hopes alive.

    The Bulldogs jumped out to a 21-0 halftime lead and then held on for a 28-18 win over the Jeffersontown Chargers on Friday night at Bulldog Stadium.

    Relying on a by-committee approach in the backfield because they were missing their top two fullbacks Friday night, the Meade County Green Wave were firing on all cylinders against Class 6-A, District 2 foe Muhlenberg County.

    Ten players combined for 359 yards on the ground as the Green Wave crushed the visiting Mustangs, 57-0 at Hamilton Field.

  • FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL UPDATE:...

    SHELBYVILLE — A disastrous end to the first half didn’t derail the Central Hardin Bruins on Friday night.

    Instead, the Bruins came out in the third quarter and put the game away.

    Junior Xavier Arnette pounded his way to 181 yards and three second-half touchdowns as the No. 6 Bruins rolled to a 34-9 win over Collins at Titan Stadium to remain undefeated.

    LOUISVILLE — When they kept control of the ball, the Elizabethtown Panthers had no trouble gaining yards Friday night.

    But six turnovers (five fumbles, one interception for a touchdown) were too much to overcome on the road as they fell to the Central Yellowjackets, 41-13 in both teams’ Class 3-A, District 3 opener.

    The Meade County Green Wave have played two good defenses the last two weeks, but they aren’t using that as an excuse for a lack of production offensively.

    The No. 8 Green Wave have managed only 10 points in those two games, leaving a lot of room for improvement as they open Class 6-A, District 2 play tonight against visiting Muhlenberg County.
