    The Central Hardin Bruins are entering Thursday night’s game with the North Hardin Trojans feeling good about themselves.

    It’s easy to see why. The Bruins, who are ranked ninth in the latest Associated Press Class 6-A poll, are off to a 4-0 start for the second consecutive season despite needing to fill a number of key positions. Central Hardin was off last week and has had plenty of time to think about this game.

    The John Hardin Bulldogs try to use the same approach for each game, and so far, it’s hard to argue with the results.

    The Bulldogs have gone on the road and won in places like Marion County and Meade County. They completely overwhelmed rival North Hardin and then knocked Nelson County from the ranks of the unbeatens.

    The injury bug has bitten the Fort Knox Eagles pretty hard in the last few weeks.

    Already without senior wingback Frank Richardson and junior offensive lineman/linebacker Carlos Brown, the Eagles lost two more players to injuries in last Thursday’s win over Kentucky Country Day.

    While John Egan was running away from the field Saturday afternoon, his teammates were busy fending off the Central Hardin Bruins.

    A John Hardin senior, Egan won the 38-runner Central Hardin Invitational at Freeman Lake Park and the Bulldogs finished first, second and third to beat the Bruins by three points for the team title.

    LOUISVILLE — DeVante Parker and the Ballard Bruins had their way with injury-riddle Meade County on Friday night.

    A University of Louisville commit at wide receiver, Parker caught nine passes for 223 yards and three touchdowns to lead Ballard to a 45-10 rout of the Green Wave at Pat Crawford Stadium.
