  • BOYS' PREP BASKETBALL:...

The first three quarters were an example of the type of basketball team the John Hardin Bulldogs hope to be this season.

The Bulldogs whipped passes around defenders, passed ahead to open teammates running the floor and made touch passes with ease near the basket to lead to easy baskets in their 78-42 victory over the Fort Knox Eagles in a 17th District game at the Dawg Pound.

One of the state’s most respected track and field officials has won a national award.

  • GIRLS' PREP BASKETBALL:...

Thirty-five seconds into Monday night’s game against visiting 5th Region foe Washington County, John Hardin coach Bryan Todd called a timeout.

He wasn’t pleased with how his Lady Bulldogs were playing and used the break to get them focused. Whatever Todd said must have worked.

John Hardin closed the first quarter on a 14-6 run and pulled away for a 53-40 win over the Commanderettes.

  • BOYS' PREP BASKETBALL:...

Playing without a starter is difficult enough, but when it’s the season opener against a quality team playing its third game, it becomes a monumental challenge.

The LaRue County Hawks found that out Saturday night.

The Hawks, who were already replacing three starters from last season, were without senior point guard Kelton Ford, who didn’t dress for the game. LaRue County coach Paul Childress said Ford should return next week.

  • BOYS' PREP BASKETBALL: John...

The John Hardin Bulldogs don’t like to lose but they will be able to use Saturday’s 75-69 in overtime to the Henderson County Colonels in LaRue County’s Corky Cox Classic as a good early season learning experience.

The Bulldogs, playing their season opener, only had four practices with their football players prior to the game. Starting guards Patrick Anderson and Elijah Smith played despite the lack of practice time. Senior forward Daveon Greene sat out the first two quarters because of disciplinary reasons.
