    Meade County junior Chase Long scored off an assist from junior Austin Lancaster with 4 minutes left to lift the visiting Meade County Green Wave to a 2-1 win over Corydon (Ind.) Central on Tuesday.

    Lancaster scored an unassisted goal in the first half for the Green Wave (7-1-1), who won their sixth straight.

    Junior keeper Alex Fackler made three saves in the first half, while senior Alex Poe made two in the second.

    UP NEXT: Meade County plays Kentucky Country Day at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Nelson County Invitational.

    Stevie Delabar was planning on leaving Tacoma, Wash., today and flying in to Louisville so he could arrive home in Hardin County tonight.

    Since he’s no longer coming home, his family is coming to see him.

    Delabar, a 28-year-old former Central Hardin High School star pitcher playing for the Tacoma Rainiers – the Seattle Mariners’ Triple-A affiliate – was called into his manager’s office Monday night and informed the Mariners wanted him to pitch in the big leagues.

    Thurman, who has hosted many area and state basketball legends for nights of reminiscing over Cajun shrimp boils at Claudia’s Tea Room, is hosting his first football legends night Thursday.

    “We already have a full house. We’re up to capacity,” Thurman said Sunday night. “We’ve had a huge response. We’re up over 60 people now.”

    John Hardin High School senior Katie Lever was named the KYTrackXC.com girls’ Runner of the Week after she finished sixth in last Saturday’s St. Xavier Tiger Run in Louisville.

    Lever broke her personal-record best time by over 1 minute and finished in 19:08, more than 2 minutes faster than she finished in last season’s race.

    The 20th-ranked Central Hardin Lady Bruins went 5-0 to win the Lexington Lafayette Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

    Central Hardin (14-2) beat Franklin County (25-8, 25-9), Madison Southern (25-11, 25-10), Bowling Green (25-23, 25-15), Lafayette (25-23, 22-25, 15-11) and Parkersburg, W.Va., (23-25, 25-21, 15-11).

    Senior Nicole Lanford had 29 kills and four digs, while senior Cheyenne Mills added 21 kills and 13 aces.
