    The Meade County Lady Waves split two games over the weekend, falling to 3rd Region rival Grayson County, 83-69 on Saturday and beating 11th District rival Breckinridge County, 68-64 in overtime Friday.

    n Leading 41-31, the visiting Lady Cougars extended their lead to 18 in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

    Junior post Scarlett Powers led Meade County (3-5) with 19 points, six rebounds, two steals and one assist, while senior forward Carly Evans added 17 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.

    CECILIA — Four years ago, it wasn’t much of a rivalry.

    Not after the Elizabethtown Panthers had won 11 straight meetings with Central Hardin and hadn’t let the Bruins within 10 points since 2001.

    Sophomore guard Kaylyn Cecil scored a team-high 15 points, junior guard Hannah Hart added a career-high 14 and the visiting Elizabethtown Lady Panthers downed Lexington Paul Dunbar, 61-47 on Thursday.

    Cecil also had seven assists, two steals and one block, while Hart added three assists.

    Junior forward Adelaide Luckett chipped in with 12 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals, and junior guard Natalie Greenwell had eight points, four rebounds and two steals.

    In a battle between two of the more highly regarded teams in the 5th Region, North Hardin made a statement Wednesday.

    The Trojans jumped out to an early lead and closed strong in the fourth quarter to beat visiting Nelson County, 50-42.

    The Cardinals were limited to just five points in the fourth quarter, while they were held to just 23.7 percent shooting from the field (14-of-59) and 14.3 percent shooting from behind the 3-point arc (3-of-21).
