Christian Fox scored twice and Wyatt Johnson’s game winner accounted for the first of the Panthers’ two rebound goals as Elizabethtown topped the Trojans, 3-1 in Elizabethtown’s second-to-last 10th District game of the regular season.

HODGENVILLE — With his young team off to a to 2-0 start, veteran LaRue County High School coach Rodney Armes was eager to take his Hawks on the road last week.

ELIZABETHTOWN — Although he’s rapidly becoming one himself, Trevor Deneen likes to help others become stars.

Deneen, an Elizabethtown High School senior wide receiver, has helped turn Chris Gohman into a star.

Because of the pressure Deneen puts on opposing defenses, they can’t focus solely on stopping Gohman, a fellow senior who leads the area in scoring (50 points), receptions (21), receiving yards (423) and receiving touchdowns (seven).

Instead, the Panthers’ second-year coach ensured his team had an extended film session Monday, less than 72 hours after their 42-35 loss at Class 1-A Louisville Holy Cross.
