  • PREP VOLLEYBALL: Lady Bruins...

Central Hardin locked up the top seed Thursday night for next month’s 17th District Tournament.

But first-year coach Bill Rineker admitted the No. 11 Lady Bruins aren’t where they need to be. And it’s all his fault.

  • PREP FOOTBALL: North Hardin...

The North Hardin Trojans don’t have time to dwell on the one that got away, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

The Trojans dominated the Central Hardin Bruins, racking up 519 yards of total offense, but mistakes – 11 penalties and four turnovers – cost them a shot at a victory. Instead of being 3-1, the Trojans are 2-2 after a 24-21 loss.

North Hardin has no time to mope around about the defeat as the undefeated and 12th-ranked Grayson County Cougars come to Ray Story Stadium in Radcliff on Friday. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.

Senior striker Steve Packer had a goal and two assists, while defender Kage Rhodes scored twice and had an assist. Senior midfielder Devin Sowells and junior midfielder Chris Wood Jr. also scored.

Sophomore goalkeeper Andrew Rendon recorded five saves. North Hardin (10-6) had a shutout until the Bears (9-6) scored on a free kick with about 6 minutes left.

  • GIRLS' PREP SOCCER: Central...

Central Hardin’s Savannah Haberman spends most of her time stopping goals, not setting them up.

So when coach Hal Bender lets the Lady Bruins’ star senior keeper out of the net to play the field, she wants to make the most of it.

Playing 70 of the 80 minutes in the net, Haberman capped off her team’s high-scoring night Wednesday by assisting Sidney Pickman on the reserve junior forward’s first career goal as No. 20 Central Hardin rolled past the rusty and weary North Hardin Lady Trojans, 8-0.
