    Sophomore forward Jaycee Serrano and senior striker Jennifer Rethmeier each had a hat trick to lead the Meade County Lady Waves to a 10-0 win over 11th District rival Breckinridge County on Monday.

    Rethmeier also had an assist for Meade County (8-5-1, 2-0 district), which led 7-0 at the half. The game was called on the mercy rule with 20 minutes left to play.

    After the Omaha Storm Chasers lost Saturday night to Reno in Game 4 of the Pacific Coast League championship series, the Kansas City Royals recalled Adcock and four others Sunday.

    Adcock, who has appeared in 10 games this season for Kansas City, was called up to the big leagues for the sixth time this season.

    Elizabethtown senior Ashley Hartlage decided her freshman year she no longer wanted to swim. After swimming competitively since age 8, she admitted she was burnt out, but her mother, Kim, told her she needed to find something else to fill her time.

    Will Strickland has fond memories of the Hardin County Fairgrounds.

    It’s the site of some of the Meade County senior’s most dominating performances.

    Saturday was no different as Strickland won the Central Hardin Invitational for the second straight year, winning the 115-runner race in 16 minutes, 40.69 seconds – which was 8 seconds faster than last year’s win.

    “I have one goal in mind, and that’s to get from Point A to Point B as fast as I could,” Strickland said.

    Following a tiresome week that featured morning swim practices at 5:30, she was running nearly on empty at Saturday’s Central Hardin Invitational at the Hardin County Fairgrounds.

    The John Hardin Lady Bulldogs won once on Friday and twice on Saturday to finish 3-0 and win the title in the four-team Meade County Lady Waves Classic.

    The Lady Bulldogs (8-5-1) earned a 4-1 win over Meade County on Friday before edging Shelby County, 2-1 in their first game Saturday. They ended the round-robin event by hammering Breckinridge County, 10-0 in a 60-minute mercy-rule game.
