New England Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork has a simple message for newcomers to the organization. It’s not anything profound, but it should resonate with each player.

  • GIRLS' PREP BASKETBALL:...

Elizabethtown attacked Marion County mercilessly in the first half.

The Lady Panthers challenged the two-time defending 5th Region champ Lady Knights with drives, defense and a whole lot of chutzpah on their home court Thursday night.

  • PREP FOOTBALL: Graffree signs...

Central Hardin senior Patrick Graffree gave a verbal commitment to the University of Kentucky in June, but it seemed like only yesterday in Graffree’s mind.

On Wednesday afternoon, it finally became official as Graffree signed a national letter of intent to play football at Kentucky in the school’s library in front of family and friends. The 6-foot-4, 270-pound defensive tackle said it takes a huge weight off his shoulders.

  • GIRLS' PREP SOCCER:...

Shortly after finalizing her soccer future Wednesday afternoon, Elizabethtown High School senior Halle Pinkham’s emotions were running the gamut of emotions.

“I’m excited and anxious and it’s kind of bittersweet, but it’s nice to have it out of the way,” the standout defender said after signing her national letter of intent to play on the NCAA Division-I level for the Murray State Racers. “Of course, I’m scared to move on in life.”

  • PREP FOOTBALL: Meade's...

Attending a game with Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta was more than enough to convince Thomas Wilson that the U.S. Naval Academy was the right place for him.

  • PREP FOOTBALL: John Hardin'...

John Hardin seniors Jeremy Harness and Hunter Holloway found their comfort zones on visits to Murray State, so it was only natural both of them choose to play for the Racers on Wednesday afternoon.

Harness, a 5-foot-8, 170-pound wideout, and Holloway, a 6-5, 265-pound defensive lineman, both signed national letters of intent in front of a small gathering in the John Hardin High School commons area.

  • BOYS' PREP BASKETBALL:...

Cameron Wright had a thunderous dunk on Friday night to spur his Bruins past visiting 17th District rival North Hardin.

As Central Hardin closed out district play at home Tuesday night against the Fort Knox Eagles, Wright went up to the rim to do it again.

    Or not.

The senior forward lost control of the ball and tried to lay it up instead. After missing the gimme, he salvaged the play by getting fouled.
