    University of Southern California men’s basketball sophomore post Curtis Washington has been diagnosed with a left labrum tear and is slated to undergo surgery between Aug. 22-28 at USC Hospital in Los Angeles. University of Kentucky women’s soccer senior Jenna Goblirsch injured her right knee in practice Thursday, said Wildcats coach Jon Lipsitz.

    Steve Delabar once thought his professional baseball career was over. Now the 2001 Central Hardin High School graduate finds himself one level below the major leagues.

    The Seattle Mariners have promoted Delabar from their Double-A affiliate in Jackson, Tenn., to their Triple-A affiliate in Tacoma, Wash. Delabar found out Friday before Jackson was scheduled to play at Birmingham, Ala.

    Seniors Nicole Lanford and Cheyenne Mills combined for 12 kills to lead the visiting Central Hardin Lady Bruins to a 25-12, 25-13 victory over 17th District foe Fort Knox on Monday.

    Junior Abbey Sorrells had six assists, while senior Elle Lallo chipped in with five assists. Junior Courtney Helton added six digs.

    It was Jeff Crady’s debut as interim coach. Crady took over the team when Wendy Boeglen suddenly resigned Monday afternoon.

    In its successful 11-year history, the Central Hardin High School volleyball program had just one coach. Shortly before they began their 12th season Monday, the Lady Bruins suddenly had their second.

    Wendy Boeglen said she officially resigned Monday afternoon, just hours before the reigning 17th District Tournament and 5th Region Tournament champion Lady Bruins opened their season at district rival Fort Knox. Jeff Crady, who is in his eighth year on the coaching staff, was named interim coach.
