  • PREP FOOTBALL: Green Wave look...

There’s no doubt Meade County coach Larry Mofield respects the dominance and tradition carried on by the John Hardin football program.

  • GIRLS' PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP...

Junior forward Anne Hare and senior midfielder Courtney Boyd each had a hat trick as the host John Hardin Lady Bulldogs rolled to a 7-0 win over 5th Region rival LaRue County on Wednesday.

Junior Lexi Mink also scored for John Hardin (5-3-1), which won its second straight.

Senior keeper and junior reserve Lexi Legaspi combined for one save.

The Lady Hawks (3-3-1) lost for the second time in four games. Senior keeper Kasey Wells made 13 saves.

  • GIRLS' PREP SOCCER: Meade,...

Don’t tell Jaycee Serrano games against Hardin County teams don’t matter to the Meade County Lady Waves anymore.

Just because they’re no longer in the same district with the likes of Central Hardin, Elizabethtown, John Hardin and North Hardin doesn’t mean matchups against those teams are any less significant to the Lady Waves sophomore striker.

Serrano score twiced and senior forward Allie Backstrom and junior midfielder Micaela Ray also scored as visiting Meade County and North Hardin played to a 4-4 tie Wednesday at Troy Wade Field.

  • PREP VOLLEYBALL: John Hardin...

    John Hardin got its revenge.

All those service and serve-receive troubles that plagued the Lady Bulldogs against 17th District rival North Hardin in their five-set season-opener didn’t return again.

  • GIRLS' PREP SOCCER: Wilson...

Elizabethtown’s offensive plan bordered on insanity Wednesday night against the homestanding and two-time defending 5th Region Tournament champion Central Hardin Lady Bruins. The ninth-ranked Lady Panthers kept trying to do the same thing and kept getting the same result.

Natalie Fiepke and Dani Wilson finally changed that.

  • PREP FOOTBALL: John Hardin faces...

Undefeated starts are nothing new for the John Hardin Bulldogs, who have won their first two games of the season six consecutive times and nine of the last 11 years.

Coach Mark Brown doesn’t know, though, how good the Bulldogs actually are. They’ve beaten Lexington Henry Clay and West Jessamine, both of which are 0-2. He said the next two games – at Meade County and Boyle County – will be a good measuring stick to know where the Bulldogs stand.

  • BOYS' PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP:...

Junior forward Jeremy Garcia and sophomore forward Jackson Kirschner each had a hat trick to lead the visiting John Hardin Bulldogs to a 12-0 mercy-rule rout of 5th Region rival Campbellsville on Tuesday.

The game was called at halftime.

  • PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Lady...

Senior middle blocker Brittany Stokan, senior outside hitter Madison Lark, senior outside hitter Dariann Johnson and sophomore defensive specialist Rebecca Hepner combined to go 38-for-38 from the service line as Elizabethtown swept visiting 5th Region rival Taylor County, 25-17, 25-10, 25-12 on Tuesday.

  • PREP VOLLEYBALL: Central Hardin...

Central Hardin was so on point during Tuesday night’s first set, the North Hardin Lady Trojans didn’t have much time to gather themselves.

  • BOYS' PREP SOCCER:...

Austin Schroeder started Tuesday’s game on the bench against North Hardin because he’s a reserve. He ended the match against the Trojans on the sideline because he jammed his right thumb.

But when he was on the field, through, he was quite effective. The Meade County junior midfielder scored with less than 2 minutes left in the first half off a pass from sophomore reserve midfielder Ashton Lancaster and the Green Wave made Schroeder’s only shot stand up in unbeaten Meade County’s 1-0 win over its former 17th District rival.
