    Senior guard Brianna Woodson had team highs in points (18) and steals (three) as the North Hardin Lady Trojans cruised to a 68-46 win Thursday over the Boyle County Lady Rebels in the championship game of the Lady Wolverine Christmas Tournament at Frankfort Western Hills.

    Sophomore guard Domeneque Taft added 12 points, six assists and two steals for North Hardin (11-2), which has won four straight. Freshman guard Zakayshia Pass chipped in with 11 points and sophomore guard Kiera Jones had six points, six assists and four rebounds.

    North Hardin senior guard Brianna Woodson had 15 points, four rebounds and three steals to lead the Lady Trojans to a 46-41 win over Knox Central on Wednesday in the semifinals of the Lady Wolverine Christmas Tournament at Frankfort Western Hills.

    Junior forward Chanel Roberts added 11 points, eight rebounds and three assists for the Lady Trojans (10-2), who have won three straight. Sophomore guard Domeneque Taft chipped in with eight points.

  • COLLEGE FOOTBALL: EKU's...

    All Eastern Kentucky junior running back Matt Denham wanted was an opportunity to show what he could do. Once the chance finally came, he ran with it.

    Literally.

    Denham’s opportunities were few and far between the first four games this past season, but once starting running back Jeremiah Williams went down with an injury, Denham instantly became the first-team running back. He made the most of the chance, bursting on the scene with a 216-yard performance in Eastern Kentucky’s 48-16 victory over Eastern Illinois.

  • GIRLS' PREP BASKETBALL...

    Junior Chanel Roberts posted a double-double to lead the North Hardin Lady Trojans to a 55-37 win Tuesday over Leslie County in the Frankfort Western Hills Lady Wolverine Christmas Tournament.

    Roberts had 19 points, 10 rebounds and two steals, while senior Brianna Woodson chipped in with 13 points, two assists and two steals.

    Sophomore Kiera Jones and freshman Zakayshia Pass each scored six points.

  • BOYS' PREP BASKETBALL...

    LaRue County junior Kelton Ford scored 21 points to lead five players in double figures and the host Hawks hit 14 3-pointers as they rolled to a 103-37 win over Metcalfe County in the National Guard Holiday Classic on Tuesday.

    Ford, who hit three 3s, also had four rebounds, four assists and four steals. Junior Gabe Shirley added 19 points, three steals, three rebounds and two assists, while senior Kyle Sheeran had 18 points, eight assists and two steals. Sheeran hit 4-of-7 from beyond the arc.

    Senior Kyle Meredith scored 16, and sophomore Kody Key 14.

    The North Hardin Trojans’ December woes continued Monday.

    North Hardin fell behind by 20 points at halftime to top-ranked Louisville Trinity en route to a 73-43 loss in the first round of the Republic Bank Holiday Classic at Lexington Catholic.

    Just when LaRue County boys’ basketball coach Paul Childress thought he’d have a nice, quiet holiday break, it’s turned into one mishap after another for the Hawks.

    Senior forward Jonathan Firquin injured his left knee in last week’s KFC Holiday Classic at McCreary Central and Childress doesn’t know how long he’ll be out.

    Ashley Hawkins can stretch and twist her body in some unusual ways.

    She can roll over and flip her feet almost all the way over her head. She’s able to shift from a front walkover, or handstand, directly into a split.
