Butler County flashed plenty of offense Tuesday night, but senior pitcher CheyAnne Gaskey didn't really need it.

The Lady Waves (25-7) had their season ended in similar fashion last year, losing to Butler County in the 2010 region semifinals.

  • 5TH REGION SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT:...

North Hardin played in its warmest game of the year Monday and Andrea Whelan kept bringing the heat.

The Trojans’ standout senior pitcher took a no-hitter into the seventh inning before finishing with 16 strikeouts as North Hardin upended the Nelson County Lady Cardinals, 6-1 in the second quarterfinal of the 5th Region Softball Tournament at LaRue County.

Nelson County didn’t have a runner reach third base until the seventh inning, when Whelan began to labor a bit.
