  • CROSS COUNTRY: Lever, Lady...

The only thing holding Katie Lever back Thursday night was the all-terrain vehicle at the head of the pack.

No one was going to catch the John Hardin senior on this night.

Lever cruised to victory in the 64-runner Lincoln Trail Heartland Conference Meet at the Brandenburg Telecom headquarters, winning her first conference championship in 19 minutes, 12.60 seconds.

  • PREP FOOTBALL: Jaggers says...

North Hardin coach Crad Jaggers saw something from his team in last week’s 27-21 victory over Meade County that he hasn’t seen much this season.

“Our kids really came together as a team,” Jaggers said. “We had a bunch of guys going both ways. They had to play more minutes than they were accustomed to. But they played for each other. That was important. It’s a tremendous win for our program.”

  • PREP FOOTBALL: Central wants to...

After an all-important Class 6-A, District 2 win last week, the Central Hardin Bruins are hoping to ride that momentum into Greenwood tonight and on into the playoffs.

The Bruins fell behind 14-0 to the Nelson County Cardinals before rallying for a 35-21 victory. It was a huge win because it wrapped up a home playoff game and gave the Bruins some confidence after an ugly 58-14 loss to Meade County.

  • PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Conference...

No matter how much rain Brandenburg gets today, longtime Meade County cross country coach Larry Garner said tonight’s Lincoln Trail Heartland Conference Meet will go on as scheduled.

The meet begins at 5:45 p.m. with the boys’ race at the Brandenburg Telecom Headquarters. The girls’ race will be held immediately after the conclusion of the boys’ event.

  • STATE VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT:...

Three months ago, Jeff Crady’s life seemed like it was in full swing.

His wife, Melanie, had a baby on the way. He was prepping for fatherhood while helping out as a Central Hardin’s assistant volleyball coach. Life was busy but not too much of a sweat.

  • PREP FOOTBALL: E'town takes...

Elizabethtown senior quarterback Kyle Todd remembers the sinking feeling as he watched the referees rule former teammate Mitchell Henry fumbled what would have been a first-down catch last season against the Glasgow Scotties.

Henry, now a freshman at Western Kentucky University, appeared to have caught a pass from Todd at Glasgow’s 18-yard line, giving the Panthers a first down with less than 1 minute remaining at Doug Smith Memorial Stadium.
