  • PREP FOOTBALL: Trojans hope to...

The North Hardin Trojans have no time to feel sorry for themselves after their 53-13 loss to John Hardin last Friday. The Trojans face another rival Friday night when they travel to face the Meade County Green Wave at Hamilton Field.

The Trojans aren’t looking at this game as a rivalry game as much as a chance to get back on track before going into the playoffs. They finish the regular season with a trip to Owensboro Catholic, which is ranked No. 1 in Class 2-A.

  • 5TH REGION VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT...

LEBANON A lucky charm returned to the Central Hardin bench.

  • BOYS' 5TH REGION SOCCER...

BARDSTOWN — As it turns out, North Hardin’s regular-season home rout of the Bardstown Bethlehem Eagles was in fact a fluke.

Taylor Yates, Elijah Linscott, Tyler Malcolm and the rest of the Trojans crushed the eight-time defending 19th District Tournament champions worse the second time around on a neutral field.

  • BOYS' 5TH REGION SOCCER...

BARDSTOWN — After going on a Cinderella postseason run two years ago, the youthful Central Hardin Bruins are looking for those magic glass slippers.

The 17th District Tournament runner-up Bruins rode three goals in the first 45 minutes to cruise past the 18th District champion Marion County Knights, 3-0 on Tuesday evening in the Boys’ 5th Region Soccer Tournament’s early semifinal at Cardinal Stadium.

  • 5TH REGION VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT...

LEBANON Emotions poured out of the Elizabethtown Lady Panthers as Bardstown Bethlehem dashed their 5th Region Volleyball Tournament championship dreams again.

  • PREP FOOTBALL OPINION: Playoff...

The playoff picture is starting to come into focus for area football teams going into the final weekend of district games. Some area teams are already locked into spots while this could be a big weekend for others.

Two teams – John Hardin and LaRue County – have opportunities to win district championships this weekend after Meade County did so last week. The area hasn’t had three teams win district titles in the same year in at least 15 years. Maybe it’s never happened.

  • PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: North...

The North Hardin Christian Lady Falcons improved to 11-4 by knocking off Hillview MICAH Christian, 25-7, 25-18, 25-17 on Monday night.

Missy Schneider had 24 digs, five kills, five assists and four aces, while Jasmine Clark-Osborne had 14 kills, nine digs, six aces and one assist. Judith Breeze added three digs, two assists and one kill.

Sierra Butler had 12 aces, six assists, three digs and one kill. Alysia Smith had five digs, two kills and one assist and Allison Gray had seven digs, seven aces, five kills and two assists.

  • PREP VOLLEYBALL: Marion knocks...

LEBANON Ben Schell wasn’t sure what was going on with the LaRue County Lady Hawks.

After a tight opening set in the 5th Region Volleyball Tournament quarterfinals Monday night, tournament host Marion County put Schell’s team on its heels. Behind three kills each from senior Kyvin Goodin-Rogers and junior Nichole Mattingly, the Lady Knights raced out to an 11-2 lead in the second.

  • PREP VOLLEYBALL: Lady Bruins...

LEBANON Pretty or not, the Central Hardin Lady Bruins are moving on.

Bad passes, bad serves, you name it. The Lady Bruins didn’t quite look like themselves in their 5th Region Volleyball Tournament quarterfinal Monday night at the Roby Dome.

But at this point of the season, it’s about surviving and advancing – which the Lady Bruins did against the Nelson County Lady Cardinals.

  • GIRLS' 5TH REGION SOCCER...

Veteran Bardstown Lady Tigers coach Martin Bodkin jokes Kindsay Riney should be a more prolific player than she is.

But when her coach needed her the most Monday night, the junior forward gladly obliged.

Riney scored both of her team’s goal, including a dagger of a breakaway with less than 6 minutes remaining, to lift the 19th District Tournament runner-ups past the Central Hardin Lady Bruins, 2-0 in the Girls’ 5th Region Soccer Tournament’s late quarterfinal in Cecilia.
