  • BOYS' PREP BASKETBALL:...

Just when LaRue County boys’ basketball coach Paul Childress thought he’d have a nice, quiet holiday break, it’s turned into one mishap after another for the Hawks.

Senior forward Jonathan Firquin injured his left knee in last week’s KFC Holiday Classic at McCreary Central and Childress doesn’t know how long he’ll be out.

She can roll over and flip her feet almost all the way over her head. She’s able to shift from a front walkover, or handstand, directly into a split.

After they lost to the Central Hardin Bruins in the teams’ first meeting this season, Thursday night was the Grayson County Cougars’ turn to be the teacher.

And the host Bruins failed the Cougars’ English lesson.

Senior forward Ollie Roberts, a foreign exchange student from Southampton, England, had 18 points, 12 rebounds and three assists in just 20 minutes as turnover-prone Grayson County stormed past the cold-shooting Bruins, 57-42 in the championship game of the eight-team Bluegrass Cellular Holiday HoopFest.

  • BOYS' PREP BASKETBALL:...

With his team lacking size, Central Hardin boys’ basketball coach J.C. Wright knows there will be times when his Bruins’ rebounding prowess – or lack thereof – will be absolutely maddening.

Wednesday night was one of those times.

Fortunately for the height-deficient Bruins, they made sure they didn’t have to worry about rebounding too many of their own misses, especially from long range.
